Tough to argue with?

I still think this is about electoral politics Game of Thrones style at this point. But I have little doubt he’s one of the smarter ones in the room.

That explains, in part, Bolton’s reputation for unpleasantness: He unapologetically forces people to get the details, what in government is often called “process,” exactly right. I am reminded of a Muslim cleric who explained to me that to mumble your way through prayer is like dialing a phone number that is a digit or two off: The message doesn’t go through, and the exercise is pointless. Bolton has a tendency to regard rivals who flub process as incompetents who can’t get things done. And being an asshole, unlovely as it may sound, might not be such a bad thing, if you get things done and follow the rules
Following a process doesn't make you an asshole...it's make you correct.

What makes you an asshole is HOW you follow that process. :twocents: :coffee:

He’s not my favorite anything. He’s a chicken hawk

He is absolutely correct about Iran, Norko, Russia, and every other two bit shithole cunt regime out there

The difference between me and him is that he wants to unleash the cruise missiles on all of them

Me? I just want us to pull back completely. Get out of Korea and Europe. Pull all our forces back to CONUS. ALL of them.

Then, within 5-6 years they’ll be begging us to come back and we can say, “Sure!.... No, wait, nevermind, fuck you”

That is a lucid, intelligent, and well-thought-out objection.

Overruled.

“Bolton also has said he worries Trump will pull the United States out of NATO if he gets a second term.”

So.. all you “we spend too much on defense” posters...

What say you? Would you support a pullout from Europe? Our presence there is VERY spendy

I would, after we leave the middle east.

Why does it have to be an either/or? Or one before the other? Get them ALL the fuck out and back home. Then station them shoulder to shoulder on the southern border. :coffee: :coffee:

I said all of them, Houndey

Why do you feel it necessary to have caveats?

Do we spend too much on our military or not?

Its not an either/or. Get them out of the mideast first - very few of our troops are dying in Europe.

Not a caveat - I'm in the Trump mode arguing the process. I'd bring the mideast troops home first since more of them are dying and obviously its not something we're going to do over a couple of weekends. I suppose you could do it that way if you wanted to but I would prefer a more orderly retreat.

Yes we spend too much on the military. We have too many bases overseas and we make too much shit the Generals don't even want.

What is president CID going to replace the defense industry welfare system with after he brings the troops home?

Nothing

You sure seem positioned to argue for pulling troops out of the Middle East but nowhere else

That’s odd

Nope thats just you doing your thing. I'm for pulling out of the mid east first that's all. Probably next would be Korea or Japan, I'd have to consult my cabinet.

I worry that he won't pull us out of NATO if he gets a second term. Same for the UN.

I’m not sure why you think we have to do it one at a time

It mainly just looks like your substance free reply is falling flat

But yeah OK great point let’s pull out of the ME on Monday and everywhere else on Tuesday

:dunce:

I guess the truth is that I haven't put much thought into the implementation - I'm a big picture guy; if you want to pull out of everywhere on Monday and think it makes that big of a difference well you just go right on ahead with yo bad self! :thumb:

Are you getting enough prune juice, CID? You seem a little constipated.

OK Houndawg, you win -

We pull out of the Middle East first because well, something or another

OK

No need to sulk, it isn't an article of faith - if you really want to pull out of everywhere all at once I'm willing to entertain arguments. I was just thinking about all those brand new civilians looking for jobs all at once. Might be better to reintroduce them to the job market over a longer stretch....then again maybe not, I'm inclined to follow the lead of the expert implementers I'd appoint, because I'm a big picture guy and feeling some post-partisan these days..
