Let us know the details, how many people, what happened, etc...wildkyle wrote:i will be attending one in my town
Indeed - the masses are being played again by the moneyed elite. When will the sheeple that listen to Hannity/Rush/Beck realize that they are not on THEIR side - but they are pawns keeping the status quo intact.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:I'm going - in a three piece suit, slicked back hair and my sign "GREED IS GOOD" or "I'm Gordon Gecko, and I approved this 'protest'" lol The other option is showing up with a "I make 35,000/year and my taxes went down thanks to Obama... but [*]f**k him anyway because I'm retarded douchebag who can't do math"
the hilarity of this "grassroots" nonsense is a hard to overstate... it's right-wing astroturf... concocted by DCI (the "teabag" website was already prepped before Santelli's staged "meltdown")...
what's funny is watching the nasty rightwing base show up at these things... the disturbing "mccain rally when they go nasty" element to all of this.
Water produces hard goods and jobs that give back to the economy, unlike the 1,700 person DMV call centers (located in So Cal) created by the legislature in the past two years whose sole job is to verify that every vehicle registered in CA has valid insurance 365/24/7, and any policy lapses triggers automatic registration suspension which requires the vehicle owner to pay a DMV penalty to reinstate their registration. BTW, suspension notifications ARE NOT BEING MAILED TO THE OWNERS, so in most cases, the first time the owner's learn of the suspension is when they get socked with huge annual registration renewal bill with the penalty tacked on.dbackjon wrote:Are you including subsidized water in your elimination campaign?
Should I be offended by these posts? I don't listen to Hannity/Rush/Beck but I do believe in the capitalism and the free market (with limited regulation). I can make a pretty cogent argument that in most cases a dollar kept in the private sector will be more effective than a dollar taken by the government because it will be reinvested in companies that create jobs and opportunities for other people while a much larger percentage of the government dollar will be wasted on bureaucratic overhead (can you say byzantine). Now you might not agree with my arguments but don't question my mental ability just because I don't agree with you. I've made up my mind based on my assessment of the information not because of what I've been spoon fed.dbackjon wrote:Indeed - the masses are being played again by the moneyed elite. I think I have finally learned to live with smack being the most prominent discourse on message boards. It is nice when occasionally a discussion does happen.UNI88 wrote:Should I be offended by these posts? I'm calling retarded the people who bitch about "my taxes going up" when unless they make more than 250k/year their taxes didnt go up, and if they make under 100k (IIRC the amount) they actually went down... so what they are really "protesting" is wealthy people paying the same tax they paid in 1999. most of your teabaggers don't see it that way... an that is either stupidity or being duped.UNI88 wrote:Should I be offended by these posts? Maybe they are protesting the concept. Some people have principles that are not tied to their own pocketbook.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:I'm calling retarded the people who bitch about "my taxes going up" when unless they make more than 250k/year their taxes didnt go up, and if they make under 100k (IIRC the amount) they actually went down... so what they are really "protesting" is wealthy people paying the same tax they paid in 1999. most of your teabaggers don't see it that way... an that is either stupidity or being duped.UNI88 wrote:

It is a good question. Could be a lot of things from partisanship to simple not focusing when they should have. But it could be that the possibility of doubling a deficit in 8 years that was already doubled by Bush in 8 years woke a few people up.dbackjon wrote:My question for the majority of the teabaggers: What took you so long? Unfortunately, they are going about this the wrong way. Following the ones that took them to defeat in 2008/created this mess in the first place will get them no-where.OL FU wrote:It is a good question. TTBF, from my viewpoint, this has little to do with personal taxes. Those who assume political position principally due to their PIT rates (or changes to) aren't true conservatives. This is about big government. Taking money from taxpayers to create more government, which puts little back into the economy. A robust growing economy benefits all; a robust growing government diminishes all.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:I'm calling retarded the people who bitch about "my taxes going up" when unless they make more than 250k/year their taxes didnt go up, and if they make under 100k (IIRC the amount) they actually went down... so what they are really "protesting" is wealthy people paying the same tax they paid in 1999. most of your teabaggers don't see it that way... an that is either stupidity or being duped.UNI88 wrote:

We've been telling Bush to stop spending. Difference is now under Obama, the gluttoness tax and spend activity has grown exponentially, with bills being written in dark rooms, and passed before anyone has a chance to even read them.dbackjon wrote:My question for the majority of the teabaggers: What took you so long? Would you have said the same thing about the people that remained in the democratic party following Carter's administration? Or after the republicans took control of congress in the early 90s. Come on. The party in power typically abuses their power and many times forgets the people that put them there. It has happened sadly again and again in American politics.dbackjon wrote:Unfortunately, they are going about this the wrong way.
