War is a loaded word. Presidents over the past 50 years have continued, intensified and ended wars but which wars were actually began by Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Obama? Or are you counting military interventions like Grenada, Haiti, Panama, Balkans, etc...?
I think the first President since LBJ to enter the US into a new war was Bush in 1990.
Someone fact check me but, I think Ford, Carter and Trump get the honor of not starting or escalating no net new conflicts or even escalating existing conflicts.

Re: China
I don't.
When one party attacks and sows doubts in election results, restricts individual autonomy, implements voting restrictions, wants religion in government and daily life, and you know - physically attacks Congress - I'm going to be angry no matter what.
What do liberals want? Raise taxes? Implement environmental policies? Have better voting access? Increase welfare? Actual policy items donks and conks can debate?
I'm not debating fascism though. The stuff the GOP is doing and saying is dangerous to a democracy...it's not a matter of policy debates anymore.
Each side isn't the same right now.

Re: China
I just think the brand of fascism you want doesn't gibe with the fascism you think the GOP represents. You don't like opposing viewpoints so they are labeled fascism as a result. Sure, Trump ups the ante on many things and he's a dangerous buffoon, but we've been questioning election results that don't go our way since the hanging chads in Florida back in 2000. I think we sowed plenty of doubts back then and have continued on through pretty much every election since. I think every Presidential election since then has had members of the opposing party in the House vote to not accept the election results. It's what both sides do anymore.∞∞∞ wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:28 amI don't.

Yep. Trip doesn't understand or care that "Wokism is illiberal." His side is right, their ideas are inevitable and whatever they need to do to implement them is ok (the ends justify the means).

That's the danger when you stop conversing with and dealing with the other side, and simply say that the ideas you espouse will be recognized correct through the long arc of history and you just proceed that way. The conservative side does it too - like I said in another thread, both sides are sadly delusional and blind and deaf to opposing viewpoints, but continue on unabashedly proud of whatever belief they hold, which they now consider sacred. Basically lemmings marching along on two separate paths.

But you can't hold a whole political party responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole political party system? And if the whole political party system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our political institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

Re: China
I get the reference, but in this case you CAN indict the entire party. The “mainstream” left has fully embraced the ‘wokeism’ and progressivism that has taken over the party like the plague. And a majority of the “mainstream” right has embraced Trumpism as the cure for all ills….Ibanez wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 9:42 amBut you can't hold a whole political party responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals.
