My people?

You realize I'm for more government; this is quite the opposite. I know you disagree, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to take money from law/surveillance enforcement, the MIC, and Wall Street and redirect it into science, education, healthcare, welfare, infrastructure, renewable energy...things that actually have long-term social and economic benefits. The most productive nation per capita in history deserves to treat itself instead of funneling money upwards.

I don't believe in some anarcho-commie-libertarian state which isn't based on Democracy. In fact, I would tell those who live in the CHAZ that the US is blessed with a number of lifestyle choices including communal, so the option is available if there's genuine belief in it.

That said, I don't really care either. If Seattle wants to allow some autonomous zone, more power to them.
All of that brought to you by the Constitution and capitalism...

...and CHAZ is about not recognizing the Constitution, which is what you are all about, so yes, these CHAZ retards are your people. Own it.

The man who responded quickly and professionally to immediately take the gun out of the kid’s hands before he accidentally or otherwise shot someone turned out to be a private security guard for the local media folks who were covering the riot.

Now, that security guard is talking to Q13 Fox, the tv station where he works to keep news crews safe on-location. In an interview aired Sunday, the man (who doesn’t want to be identified) spoke to anchor Brandi Kruse about why he swung into action, when he saw rioters ransacking two, destroyed Seattle police SUVs:

“The first thing that ran through my mind was, ‘I’ve got to get the team to safety.’ That’s you guys. I put you guys around the corner. I immediately assumed that there were firearms in those vehicles. I was an infantryman; that’s what you need to do: make a decision, and absolutely run with it.”

Then a rioter, who the Marine vet saw take an AR-15 rifle from one of the vehicles, fired the weapon, then, as the Q13 News report explains, “started to walk away, rifle in hand.”

Suddenly, the Marine veteran says, he saw what he needed to do.

“He held the weapon down and away, because he was shocked and afraid. So I came up and I snatched the weapon from him. I told him, ‘Get out of here!'”

But the story doesn’t end there. Another rioter was opening a rifle bag with another AR-15 inside it, in the back of second SUV. The guard took action:

“The thought was, ‘I need to take that. I need to get control of that. That’s a police firearm….'”

I saw this clip on twitter. I was wondering what the backstory was.

You focus on the negatives and skip over the many positives that capitalism and our form of government have helped to make happen - the opportunities, free-thinking, technological advancements, etc. Where would we be today if the US wasn't a capitalist republic? Would Nazi Germany have been defeated? Would we have the internet? What about many of the advancements in medicine?

I don't believe the evils with our economy and society are mostly due to capitalism, I think the evils you decry are partly due to the cabal between crony capitalism and big statist government. Pardon me if I don't think more government is the answer especially when I look at the track record of nations with governments similar to the ones that you espouse.
The entire point of life is to leave the next generation a better country. The positives are the positives...I acknowledge them.

The negatives are what we MUST focus on. We have to get away from the idea of the infallibility of the free-market; society should have the ability to protect itself from the negatives of capitalism. It should be able to reward itself for being the most productive nation on Earth with better healthcare, better education, better...whatever. Otherwise the wealth gap will continue to rise and the voices of the rich will continue to matter more than any other. This is supposed to be a Democracy, not a Corporatocracy. The more we get away from the former and inch towards the latter, the tougher it will get to fix the issues. We've already seen the cracks for a while now.

The only vehicle common men have for protection is government, or revolution.
We do have "the ability to protect itself from the negatives of capitalism" we just haven't done it as well as we could have. I agree that we should strive to make healthcare more affordable and I've been stating for a long time that I think education should be considered part of our infrastructure and we need to strive to give everyone an opportunity to receive a quality education.

As Baldy hints about a free-market is far from infallible. It's messy and mistake prone but it's significantly better than a centrally planned economy not just for the wealthy and innovative but also for the less fortunate. One of our biggest points of failure is mental healthcare and homelessness.

A socialist government leads to mediocrity where everyone but the government elite is equal, equally miserable. I'll take the inequalities of innovation and advancement over that any time.

Not trivializing the protests in Tienanmen Square as the response was brutal.

Obviously it was very bad, but I'm not gonna sit here and pretend capitalism has been all dandelions and roses. A ton of people have been brutalized, sometimes with extreme violence, in order to increase the wealth of a handful of people. Others suffer a slow fate.

No system is perfect and we should strive to better what we have, but we can't do it if people ignore reality and look the other way.

And that thousands of people die trying to come into this awful country every year because we have it so bad. :dunce:

So the police brutality happens in CHAZ too. They just call them "security" instead of police or law enforcement.

Wait a tic - You're trying to say that these people who are crying out for socialism and are rejecting people based off their different opinions are LIBERTARIANS? The Libertarian ideology can be summed up as "Leave me alone."

I'm not seeing that with this whiny kids who are committing crimes in the name of peace. (i'm referring to the extortion). The SJWs are no better than a school bully.
Holy fuck...the Falcons and UGA are now part of Antifa (not surprised about UGAy though). :ohno:

Except that specific tank driver showed way more restraint than many of our police officers. :coffee:

The protestor even climbs the tank and isn't hurt (he'd be dead at that point over here).

Not trivializing the protests in Tienanmen Square as the response was brutal, but that specific driver was pretty damn patient.
And how many times do the police interact with people in general and African Americans in particular without excessive violence on the LEO's part? Why do you damn all LEOs for a small percentage of interactions that go bad? If all LEO's can be damned because of a small number of bad apples then all protesters should be damned for a small number of rioters.

Your response skips over the reality that socialist governments are much more likely to respond with force. People who protest police brutality and advocate for a socialist form of government in the US are either hypocrites, ignorant, or both.
Yep. Among 800k police nationwide, over 50-60 million people a year have an interaction with the police,
https://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=pbdetail&iid=6406
in according to Bernard Kerik 375 million separate contacts.

And according to the Washington Post police shootings database, in 2019 a total of 9 unarmed blacks were shot and killed, majority of whom were fighting with the police.
