Even Jews will say that they are not wholly a religion, because you can be Jewish without being observant. The Nazis certainly thought so.

I think the reason that Jewishness is conflated with race is because 2500 years ago the only Jews were, in fact, Semites and fairly racially monolithic. But being one of the earliest monotheistic religions, their novel idea attracted all kinds of converts as they spread out of the old Judaea.

Although the Nazis viewed Jews as a race it is probably not a good lead to follow because EVERYTHING was racially quantified and tiered by the Nazis. They literally categorized every racial group in the world according to their future place in or eradication from the Greater Reich. Heck, a lot of the racialist mumbo jumbo coming out of progressives these days relies on precisely some of the same tortured obsessive logic used by the Nazis as well as subsequent regimes like Mao’s China during the cultural revolution.

I understand why Jews in large part will view themselves as an ethnic group but I do not. I view them as a religion observed within every race on the planet (just like the other world religions) and one that has been long maligned by competing religions, particularly Christianity.

And since social justice ideology proffers that any discrepancy between groups of people is created by systemic bias, that would mean that jews actually are among the most "privileged groups". Watching the racially woke try to work around that obvious contradiction is too maddening to even be funny. It isn’t just semantics.

I know plenty of Jews who have zero Semitic heritage. My own Chief of Police, Reuben Greenberg, was as Semitic as I am Nigerian (he was shoe black).

Race is largely a construct of physical perception, anyway. Ultimately it doesnt matter. Jews have historically been persecuted for both religious AND secular reasons and in the grand scheme of who’s a victim and who’s not over history, I give a lot more leeway to the Jews over anybody else… West Africans included
