Depends what it would have turned up.

If it would have turned up damning evidence on sitting members of Congress, former POTUS, etc. it is clearly worth the political capitol to prevent.

If it would have been a nothingburger, it would not be worth the political capitol.

Mitch is shrewd and doesn't risk political capitol for nothing. :coffee:

Oh good lord

If congresscritters had been complicit in the riots, it would be common knowledge. If there is one shred of damning evidence against anyone other than the guy who got impeached for it then it is already out there

The GOP doesn’t want it because it will be dragged into 2022. Simple.

They’d drag every Qanon nut and flat earther they could find off the street to put the crazy on display and it would be about as substantive as your Russia conspiracy theory thread

It's going to be dragged into 2022. But Republicans will be able to claim it isn't bipartisan. Of course the reason it won't be bipartisan is that the Republicans voted against a bipartisan inquiry.

The Republican Party is a serious problem for this country right now. And, no, the Democrats aren't just as bad. Not at this point in history. The Republican Party is beholding to a complete nut job base. It's bad.

Is it going to be just like the previous attempts, where those brought in get to make outlandish claims on TV, only to change their story completely behind closed doors and oath?

Remember how that went for Dems? Richard Grenell declassified ALL those documents which proved the whole Dem "get Trump" commission was full of shit.

Still waiting for Adam Schiff to arrest Trump with all his proof.

You do realize it’s mostly a political process?

There’s still tape of the insurrection and Trump’s statements. Christ, MTJ and Goetz are traveling the country practically doubling down on it.

What does "political process" mean? You get to lie your ass off as long as it hurts the opposing party? How does that in any way build trust?

I've seen some of the video. Still waiting for the official building video to come out.

Don't know if people are pissed Bill Barr didn't "take down" the deep state and thus are trying to make him look bad, but I do have to agree that Bill Barr calling a private citizen to stop investigating the election sounds odd. Don't really know who Tony Shaffer is either, but can't imagine him lying about the phone call.

Don't know if the building being unlocked is a big issue, especially if ballots are stored in a secure area, but this would be sensationalized by those who don't want an audit if the shoe were on the other foot.

It doesn't - the object is to appear to be trying to build trust. Don't sleep on Joey B here, it's possible that he's laying the groundwork for covering Manchin, Sinema, and the reponse to the coming bleat-fest that will arrive right after they shove the filibuster up McConnel's ass and break it off.

Just read the Democrats have refused to allow Republicans to view any of the official Capitol disturbance footage.

Now why would that be?

Disturbance? Is that the buzzword that Conks are using to try and recast the riot in a more positive light?

Ha! I've actually used it a couple of times, but you're the first to catch it. Riot is a better term. Insurrection is laughable.

Republicans in Congress have already been denied access for months to video from the Capitol security cameras, an improper use of power by the Democratic majority for which there can be no excuse.

By that definition, Portland has been fecklessly facing an insurrection for almost a year.

When the county was ordered to submit to an audit, the attorney working the audit hired a security team (off duty police) to watch the building in which the ballots were stored.

Apparently the employees said that they were intimidated by the Police and asked that they then park on the street instead of the parking lot. On duty Fulton county was supposed to watch the ballots as well. As we can see, Fulton county Deputies left their post.
Additionally, the plaintiff attorney, Bob Cheely, handling the election integrity lawsuit, confirms the county security lapse is a direct violation of a court order requiring the ballots to be protected and secured at all times. Cheely will be filing two motions of contempt against the Fulton County officials for their refusal to uphold the court order requiring 24/7 security. Apparently there are also some CCTV cameras and the plaintiffs will be asking for the footage

No kidding. I like how the employees felt "threatened" and asked the County to require the off-duty police to park on the street instead of the parking lot.
