Sunce this was blatantly an unconstitutional govt seizure of private property without due process, landlords should be able to sue the govt for the full amount of lost rent + legal fees, pain & suffering, other expenses. I imagine this calls for a giant class action, probably taking years, eventually resulting in a settlement that could reach into at least the tens, if not hundreds, of billions.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democr ... moratorium
They're idiots and the SC is correct. An Executive action like this should have a time limit and require legislative approval after that.
"If a federally imposed eviction moratorium is to continue," the ruling said about the moratorium Biden imposed as a means of protecting renters financially affected by the coronavirus, "Congress must specifically authorize it."
Instead of b!tching about it, Congress should get off it's butt and do it's job.

Even if Congress authorized it, and it was Congress saying you can’t evict a renter who doesn’t pay you rent, how would that still not be de facto govt seizure of your property without due process?

This is an example of our legislative paralysis that needs to be corrected somehow, hopefully by working together to find compromises (yikes, scary word there!). SCOTUS told everyone you can't do this infinitely and that Congress had to act to do something like this longterm and they didn't even try to talk about it. I'm not sure what both Houses of Congress do other than pontificate during press conferences when they feel like it.

I don't want Congress to extend it but liberal anger at the SC is misdirected. Liberal members of Congress, should be looking in the mirror.

Congress would need to spell that out (the method, the duration, etc) and ensure that there is a measure of due process in the legislation or yes, that legislation could be open for being struck down. Just saying Congress has to act by itself isn't correct, they have to act within the framework of the Constitution.

Plus, the guy was head of the Department of Education for eight years.

While both are problems there are several studies showing that both of your items can be overcome by good teachers and good schools. You forgot to include the problems of teacher unions protecting shitty teachers and mandates to make schools teach stupid shit instead of teaching things that should be taught.

True…but one bad teacher can also be overcome.

What amounts to stupid shit is subjective and like everything else, hyper-political theses days.

And Arne Duncan was a big advocate of “teaching to the test” and Common Core. Fat lot of good those have done for us.

Actually one bad teacher can really F things up. Kids can lose a year of growth in their education from one bad teacher.

And think about it - that's what most states did to kids last year. Gave them a shitty education. :ohno:

And Arne Duncan is a perfect example of why the Federal Dept. of Education should be eliminated.
