Quick take on why Trump is going after DeSantis. Trump built MAGA and sees who is backing DeSantis financially. It's basically the people that want business to go back to the way it was and get rid of the populist movement. The multinationalists.

The ones backing DeSantis want to try and splinter off MAGA from Trump and then slowly suffocate it with a pillow. It's similar to how the Tea Party movement was killed.

If they are an overall detriment to America, I would say yes. My 30,000 foot view of what Trump did to make the economy hum is this:

1) Get fuel prices low
2) Limit immigration
3) Slow the exodus of money, technology and businesses out of the US.

I'm still amazed at how few Trump accomplishments it took get America humming. Makes you wonder what our status quo elected officials are up to when we see the big guy drive that economy into the dirt.

Trump is more Main Street than Wall Street, at least as President.

Trillions are at stake and the old guard (multinationalists) wants their cut.

Actually, Trump's biggest donors started jumping ship to DeSantis months ago.

Not doubting you, but does backing DeSantis benefit those donors financially more than Trump? When you see guys like Citadel hedge fund billionaire, Ken Griffin say the below quote.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/11/0 ... n-00065274
While he’s supporting one of this cycle’s biggest culture warriors in DeSantis, Griffin said most hot-button issues — abortion rights, battles over sex education and LGBTQ rights — don’t define his interests. He wants to improve the diversity of the GOP and blunt the vein of populism that has complicated the party’s relationship with the corporate world — two things he’s consulted with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about.

None of that matters unless you win. Trump endorsed some of the worst candidates you could imagine and the results speak for themselves.
In Walker's runoff, the GOP is going to Kemp for help, not Trump.

I can agree with that, and I actually like DeSantis a lot, just worried the GOPe will try to quash the MAGA movement and get back to business as usual. I can't help but feel with business as usual, the score (money), is determined like boxing. Dems get a victory and score 10 points and even though Reps lose, they still scored 9 points and vice versa.

This isn't about corporate ties or influence, it's about trump's ego. He's is all for the populist MAGAt movement as long as he's leading the mob. Any chance someone else (DeSantis) might take over and he' has or will have a hissy fit.

I almost feel bad for the MAGAt suckers who don't realize that they're pawns in trump's game.

‘3 strikes, you're out’: Larry Hogan laments Trump’s election record
“It’s basically the third election in a row that Donald Trump has cost us the race, and it’s like, you know — three strikes, you’re out,” Hogan told host Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
...
“This should have been a huge red wave,” said Hogan, a moderate Republican who has been a vocal critic of Trump.

The House flipped to a Democratic majority in 2018; Trump lost the presidency in 2020 and Republicans lost the Senate soon thereafter; and Democrats outperformed “red wave” expectations last week, despite historical trends and President Joe Biden’s low approval ratings.

Candidates who “tried to re-litigate the 2020 election” and push conspiracy theories “were all, almost universally, rejected,” while “common-sense conservatives” prevailed in some places, Hogan said.
Larry Hogan knows what he's talking about.

Democratic gubernatorial winners in swing states have message for national party
“I can tell you we stayed focused on the fundamentals, right, whether it’s fixing the damn roads or making sure our kids are back on track after an incredible disruption in their learning, or just simply solving problems and being honest with the people,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”
...
Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Gov.-elect Josh Shapiro told Bash in a separate interview on “State of the Union” that his campaign’s success came from connecting with voters in often forgotten areas across rural, suburban and urban parts of the commonwealth. He said his campaign “spoke to them about practical things that would make their lives better.”
