Stock Market

First let me say that I do not think there is a cause and effect relationship between who is President and the stock market. But I have developed the impression that there are those who think there is such a relationship in at least some cases.

So today I started hearing stories about how the stock market has done better from the day Biden got elected through now than it did over the same time period after Trump got elected. So I checked.

Biden got elected on 11/3/2020. Today is 171 days from then. The Dow closed today at a level 23.9% higher than that it closed at on 11/3/2020 (34,043.49 vs. 27,480.03).

Trump got elected on 11/8/2016. 171 days after that was 4/28/2017. On 4/28/2017 the Dow closed at a level 14.2% higher than that it closed at on 11/8/2016.

So the news reports on that matter appear to be correct. What do you people who think there is a cause and effect relationship, especially you people who argued that Trump was the reason for the rise back then even though it has already been rising, make of that?

And yes I know it had already been rising when Biden got elected as well.

Optimism is up because people see light at the end of the tunnel due to the vaccines that Trump put on the fast track. All credit goes to Lil' Donnie! :nutkick:

Pretty good. I mean, I don't think Trump is the reason vaccines are here. I think they are here for reasons outside of anything Trump did. But that is another discussion.

Let's see what else people come up with.
