‘Bama is uncancelling yoga. Except can it be called yoga? That doesn’t sound very ‘Murica language to me. Also...no dangerous thinking practices.....on account of freedom!

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has signed a bill to allow public schools to offer yoga, ending a ban that stood for nearly 30 years. Christian conservatives who back the ban said yoga would open the door for people to be converted to Hinduism.

The new law allows yoga to be offered as an elective for grades K-12. While it erases a ban that, over the years, some schools had not realized existed, it also imposes restrictions on how yoga should be taught. Students won't be allowed to say, "Namaste," for instance. Meditation is not allowed.

"Chanting, mantras, mudras, use of mandalas, induction of hypnotic states, guided imagery, and namaste greetings shall be expressly prohibited," the bill states. It also requires English names be used for all poses and exercises. And before any students try a tree pose, they'll need a parent's permission slip.

My fifth grade teacher would read Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn to us, right after lunch.

It's good to see Alabama has its priorities in order. The ridiculousness of this (and the Christians that says it's a gateway to another religion - as if that's the states concern) is mind boggling.

What else do you expect from people that use MAYO as a BBQ base. :ohno: :ohno:

We studied all the world religions at Bishop England High School...I can't say for sure but I'm willing to bet there was a secret enclave of students worshipping Krishna b/c of it. :ohno: Heathens....

Uh. White Sauce is really not an Alabama thing.

It's really a Big Bob Gibson thing. One joint. It has spread a little in the last decade by newer places as it's gotten notoriety.

Most Alabama bbq is similar to Memphis style.

I didn't say it was everywhere or anything like that. It's a sauce created in Alabama and is associated with Alabama. Nothing wrong with that!

Have some pride, man. Your state has a mayo-based sauce. :kisswink:

You'd have to ask dback, AZ, 93henfan, Winterborn, Col Hogan, Rob Iola, bobbythekidd or ASUG8.

Don't listen to CAAFlaggy - he's full of lies.

I'd ask ASUG8 .
