I've shot the M4A1 while doing testing for Homeland Security...I had all the warnings and preparation about the recoil and it still was a lot of power. I

Someone was warning and prepping you about recoil?. The .223/5.56 isn’t a very powerful round, and the M16/M4/AR isn’t considered by gun people to be a high powered rifle.

I used to test law enforcement equipment and it was part of the safety talk at the beginning. It was years ago so it might not have been an M4. It was 2012/2013 so I could be mistaken. I remember being on full auto and it was more than I expected...also the first time I shot a fully automatic weapon.

Really a question for 93 or Alpha, but I’ll attempt to answer (I’m probably wrong on some of it):
Semi auto: 45 rounds oer minute
Burst: 90 rounds ler minute
Full auto 700-800 rounds per minute depending on source

M16 A1: Army carried from Nam to mid 80s, and by Nat Guard mid 80s-mid 90s, has a selector switch for Safe/Semi/Full Auto. My guard unit was just transitioning out of these when I got in in 95’, and I don’t recall ever shooting the A1 in basic/AIT at Benning or in the Guard.

M16 A2: Army carried from mid 80s-mid 90s, and by Nat Guard mid 90s-mid 2000s, on selector switch 3 round burst replaced full auto. I don’t know what other differences from the A1 besides burst vs full auto, and different handguards. What I carried in the Nat Guard.

M16 A3: M16 A2 with full auto.

M16 A4: Back to burst, but unlike the A2, has a Picatinny rail for optics and all that high speed tactical shit. So no carrying handle & iron sites. But unlike the M4, still the 20” barrell and solid stock. I know the Marines were carrying this after the Army went to the M4 Carbine. Don’t know if still are.

M4 Carbine: Army went to in mid 90s, Guard/Reserves sometime early/mid 00s. 16” barrell as opposed to 20” on M16. Collapsable as opposed to solid stock. Instead of classic handguards, Picatinny rail for optics and all that high speed tactical shit. Like the A2, selector switch Safe/Semi/Burst.

Again, what muslim ban? There was none.

The as the left calls it ‘Trump muslim ban’ was a ban on immigrants from 7 countries, only 5 majority muslim out of 40+ majority muslim countries worldwide. Only a tiny fraction of the world’s muslim population fell under it. It was because these 7 countries had major terrorism and security issues. The ban wasn’t permanent, only until thise issues were rectified. But don’t let facts get in the way of am Orange Man Bad TDS rant.

At this point, anything Biden does is going to be heavily scripted - he's not really capable of extended independent thought anymore. It's a shame to see such a mental decline happen right in front of us, but it is. He was a cognitive health risk coming into the election and the job is just taking a toll on him, and the nation as a result, every day it goes on. There has to be serious conversations going on right now behind the scenes on what is the best political option for when to push the trigger on this and 25th him.

I think they're just trying to limp past the mid-terms to go the 25th option. That way those 2 years wouldn't count as a term for Kamala.

Interesting read on the quick collapse of the Afghan government, primarily focused on the last day or so before the Afghan President bolted.

This account of Kabul’s fall — the climactic moment of America’s longest war — is based on nearly two dozen interviews with U.S. and Afghan officials, a Taliban commander and residents of the city.

On the Friday afternoon before Kabul fell, the White House was starting to empty out, as many of the senior staff prepared to take their first vacations of Biden’s young presidency. Earlier in the day, Biden had arrived at Camp David, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken was already in the Hamptons.

But by Saturday, the fall of Mazar-e Sharif — site of furious battles between pro and anti-Taliban forces in the 1990s — convinced U.S. officials that they needed to scramble. How quickly was a subject of dispute between the Pentagon and State Department.

In a conference call with Biden and his top security aides that day, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called for the immediate relocation of all U.S. Embassy personnel to the Kabul airport, according to a U.S. official familiar with the call.

Saturday evening Kabul time, Ghani and Blinken spoke by phone. Hoping to avert a showdown in the capital, Blinken sought Ghani’s support for a U.S.-brokered arrangement with the Taliban in which the militants would remain outside Kabul if the Afghan leader would step aside as an interim government took charge. The aim, said a senior U.S. official, was to buy time for negotiations aimed at forming an inclusive government that involved the Taliban, as well as others.

The president reluctantly agreed.

Precarious as it may have been, there appeared to be a path to a peaceful, political transition — a way for Afghanistan to avoid the sort of violent takeovers that have characterized so much of its recent past.

In a hastily arranged in-person meeting, senior U.S. military leaders in Doha — including McKenzie, the commander of U.S. Central Command — spoke with Abdul Ghani Baradar, head of the Taliban’s political wing.

“We have a problem,” Baradar said, according to the U.S. official. “We have two options to deal with it: You [the United States military] take responsibility for securing Kabul or you have to allow us to do it.”

Throughout the day, Biden had remained resolute in his decision to withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan. The collapse of the Afghan government hadn’t changed his mind.

McKenzie, aware of those orders, told Baradar that the U.S. mission was only to evacuate American citizens, Afghan allies and others at risk. The United States, he told Baradar, needed the airport to do that.

On the spot, an understanding was reached, according to two other U.S. officials: The United States could have the airport until Aug. 31. But the Taliban would control the city.
