2021 Elections

:coffee: Biggest races gubernatorial elections in VA and NJ.

Murphy is going to win in deep blue NJ, only question is will it be somewhat close or not.

Question is who will won in deep blue VA. VA is one of only 10 states:
-Voted Biden (Biden won by 10 & VA has gone donk in 4 straight POTUS elections).
-Gov donk.
-Both Senators donk.
-Both houses state legislature donk controlled.

If this thing is even close it would be bad news for the democrats. If Youngkin actually won it would be cataclysmic..

Virginia isn't deep blue, which is the reason Youngkin still has a slim chance to win. If you want deep blue, come to Delaware. Two decent, hard-working rural counties held hostage by one urban one with a bunch of welfare recipients. Hasn't gone for a GOP president since I was in high school (88 Bush). Gov, both US senators, US rep, both chambers of statehouse all blue.

Del only has 3 counties? Are you even a state?

Completely overlooking the "urban" county more resembling Howard County Maryland than anything in the DMV, Baltimore or Philly. But yeah, three F'ing counties.

Well, it might not be as deep as DE amd some others, but it is at least ‘solid’ blue. I would say that any state that voted for Biden by double digits and was one of only (actually 13) I think states that hit the quadfecta is at least solid blue:
-Voted Biden
-Donk Gov
-Both houses state legislature controlled by donks
-Both U.S. senators donk.

13 states are:
-VA
-NJ
-DE
-NY
-CT
-RI
-IL
-CO
-NM
-CA
-OR
-WA
-HI
Only 3 glaring blue omissions are MD, Mass & VT with conk govs.

18 solid red states that met the 4 criteria the other way. Only 5 glaring red omissions are MT (Testor), WV (Manchin), LA and KS (donk govs), and AK (split control legislature).

That only leaves about 11 states that aren’t either solid red or blue (and am including NC and GA and AZ in that group).

My heart is for Glenn Youngkin. But my vote is for Terry McAuliffe as Virginia governor.
In any case, Republicans can't have my vote while still insisting Joe Biden stole the election from Donald Trump despite all the evidence. My head is with the Democrats, but my heart is with Youngkin and the Republicans.
...
I long to deliver a message to the progressives who have grown to dominate the Democratic Party: You won't be able to hold onto power, not for long.

If Youngkin wins, it will be a dagger to the heart of progressives, and I'll cheer. Here are four reasons:
  • Out-of-control spending ..
  • Chaos at the border ...
  • Abortion extremism ...
  • Defund the police ...
  • Critical race theory...
My head knows that Republicans are a threat to our democracy, without which we can't fix our problems, but my heart understands that Democrats are making our problems worse.
I believe there are a lot of moderates that think this way. The longer delusional Trumpists hold sway the harder it will be for the Republican Party to over moderates and win elections.

Glenn Youngkin has indicated that Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 Presidential election.

Terry McAuliffe , as chairman of the DNC stated that George W Bush did not legitimately win the Presidential election and has not to this day.

Which one is a danger to democracy?

Which one is perceived to be a danger to democracy?
FYP - perception matters more than reality.

I haven't really followed the race that closely - has Youngkin denounced Trump's false claims or is he playing both sides in order to appear rational while not alienating MAGAts?

The latter from what I’ve seen. His win could be huge as it would show a middle path, alienating Trump.

The only question remaining would be Trump’s willingness to go quietly.

Hopefully Dems keep campaigning on "as a parent you should have no say in your kid's education".

The Dems really crapped the bed this time

They interpreted the Trump loss as approval of their woke platform

They forgot that the down ballot races in 2020 leaned GOP, and that Trump simply lost because he was a dick. So off they went trying to spend obscene amounts of money and dickering around with woke politics and no substance

They drove Virginia red in one year. Let that sink in for a moment

Now seeing projections that the VA house of delegates will flip to Repub. control as well.
