One Question Napolitano
April 16, 2009

http://www.politico.com/blogs/anneschro ... itano.html
Today the Secretary [Napolitano] went on Morning Joe but they were only allowed to ask one question.

"Apparently, when the Democrats promise an open administration, they really only mean open as long as you ask the questions they want asked and no follow-ups on controversial topics that everyone is reporting on," staffer Joe Pounder wrote in an email.

Anyway check out the transcript:

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough: “I want to have a discussion afterwards about that interview.”

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski: “Now, we should be clear, they only wanted one question.”

Scarborough: “Yeah. So this morning, I got a call that she [Janet Napolitano] was going to be on the show and they said we could only ask one question …”

Brzezinski: “That was the agreement.”

Scarborough: “…about this story yesterday. And I initially said, well, we're not going to do it then, because we don't allow people to tell us what they're going to talk about.”

Brzezinski: “Right.”

Scarborough: “I said, we'll ask one question, see how she responds and since this Mexico issue is so huge, we want our viewers to watch. If she was coming on to, you know, name a new post office that would have been something or a book that would have been – but I want – let's talk about that afterwards.”

Brzezinski: “Okay.”

Scarborough: “We'll ask our audience whether we should have had her on the show or not under those conditions.”

Brzezinski: “Okay, because I actually – I have so many follow-ups.”

Scarborough: “I had a lot of follow-ups.”

Tman, I'll ask this before the Dawg does: How is this different from W's free speech zones and did you make a ruckus about them?

Read Molly Ivins' Bill of Wrongs to learn something about how W trampled on the Bill of Rights.

Free speech zones were used to keep protesters away from Bush during public appearances. That has little to do with Obama's blackmailing the press over access by imposing limitations on the content of their reporting.

And, UNI...you're right...playing the...

It never gets tiring exposing liars and demagogues.

Nor listening to their sycophants apologize and pathetically attempt to cover up their wrongdoings.

I do it for God and Country.

You might try looking into it.

Tman, I'm not trying to justify her actions. A public official dictating to the press what questions they can ask is wrong. And I know it's not exactly the same as the free speech zones but there are similarities. It's about controlling the message. A President that allows protesters to be segregated and isolated is wrong as well. IMO, to harp on one and ignore the other is a little hypocritical.

I don't mind your criticisms of the Obama Administration in the least. The best government is the one that is transparent and can stand up to criticism. Keep it up but please don't take it personally when people ask why you didn't criticize similar Bush Administration transgressions.

fyi - I think TTBF is doing it for the Country as well. He just has a different opinion from you or I on what is best for the Country.

So exposing liars never gets tiring... said the man with no mirror..
And what exactly are you doing "for God"...
Yeah.. I'm sure God appointed you as the overseer of all that is truth

And you actually called somebody else a sycophant... (again without the use of a mirror)

 You entertain T-man... I'll give you that much... your are entertaining
