4 or maybe 5 and below on the poll.
Denial ... a term often used by those engaged in histrionics.
Exactly. Democracy was never in peril on 1/6/21. Never.
Well… Marinus of Rab, or the Icelanders, or the Kiwi’s might argue with your…histrionics.CID1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:29 am….or people describing a riot in the capitol building as nearly toppling the world’s oldest democracy.. without actually being able to describe the mechanism by which that would have happenedkalm wrote:
It was decently funny the first few times you used it.

Please keep pushing that narrative and all the others though … next fall our democracy, strong as ever, will send the Dems to the political wilderness for 20 years and then you can pivot to “stop the suppression” histrionics

a 20 year wilderness trip sounds like the flip side of the JSO "demographics don't favor conservatives" coin.kalm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:01 pmWell… Marinus of Rab, or the Icelanders, or the Kiwi’s might argue with your…histrionics.CID1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:29 am

I will of course neither be surprised nor all that heartbroken if the Dems get their asses handed to them. But a 20 year wilderness trip prediction is even less likely than your DeSantis dream.
They probably weren’t, but that coupled with what Team Trump was doing is a bit unsettling. Navarro just recently suggested that the terrorists (oops, I mean patriots) fucked up their plans.CID1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:56 pm Anyone who claims that Jan 6 was a “threat to democracy” should outline exactly how that is.
Please explain for me the mechanism by which a bunch of MAGAtard hicks were going to end our democracy by overturning the election - by storming the capitol building.
I’ll wait

I’ll give you an outline when you outline what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi, AOC, Romney, or Pence.
Or what would have happened if Pence had decided to not certify?
The only threat to democracy we’be had in the last 5 years is from your side trying to overthrow a duly elected president by concocting a Russian collusion narrative that was a complete fabrication by the Clinton campaign, the donk aligned media, and deep state democrat actors within the FBI, with their coup attenpt culminating with a complete sham of an impeachment.kalm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:52 am I had to think about this and was interested to see the replies before I voted.
I went with a 10.
Any threats to democracy are concerning. If this was just a bunch of uppity yahoo’s causing a ruckus that would go away quickly it would be one thing. This was far more than that, beginning with the efforts by Trump and his minions to subvert the election results and continuing a year later with an uncomfortably large amount of people still in denial including elected officials and military and law enforcement types.
It’s the kind of shit that we, as a nation, supposedly steeped in the ideals of fair elections, peaceful debate, etc. should collectively and unequivocally renounce.
Crisis periods in history often mean rapid (and uncomfortable) change along with lost faith in institutions. That explains much of this, but history should also teach us to be aware of what has happened before and what could happen again if we don’t take it seriously.
We shouldn’t be remotely close to these kind of internal threats.

And sadly, we'll just never know what would have happened....but I'd pay good money to see it.

We are all predictable in our own ways.
Somebody said that this place is like a neighborhood bar and I think that is a good description. We all have our favorite drinks we order before we get started throwing peanut shells at each other.
Should almost be it’s own thread. CSers as tavern patrons.
Jalmond: dedicated juke box guy
Bobbythekid: lurker in the corner
GATW: Barney
Maybe a short training film: Asswipe -what it is and how to use it
You asked a question nobody can answer.... what would have happened if the mob had caught up with Pelosi, AOC, Romney, or Pence? Nobody knows. There, I answered. Now give the outline.
