I think it will hinge on the white women who make up 40% of the total vote. They went for Trump twice but SCOTUS should make them a coin flip this time. Way too soon to call
SCOTUS ruling didnt’ change anybody’s mind.
It did change some women's minds; white women are the single largest voting block and suburban mom's are the group that cost Trump the election even though he got a majority of the female vote. Overturning Roe may increase voting among child-bearing aged women, not good for trumpublicans.

Disagree. But we shall see. For every woman who thinks they should be able to abort right up to birth there's a woman who thinks abortion is a sin and was happy as hell with the SCOTUS decision. I don't think anybody's mind was changed.

I'm pretty sure there are moderate, white women who believe that abortion during the first trimester or similar should be legal and that exceptions should be allowed for rape, incest, etc. It seems reasonable that these women would be alarmed by what is being discussed in red states (fetal heartbeat/6 week deadline, limited or no exceptions) and in Congress (Heartbeat Protection Act). These women might be less likely to vote Republican despite the economy and the Charlie Foxtrot of the current administration.

No doubt, and the anti-vaxxers did their part to copy that sentiment in their resistance to vaccine mandates. It's a really catchy slogan.

Now if we can get a vaccine that's good at stopping infections from spreading we'll be in luck. Or a virus that plays nice with the vaccine I guess too. But on the bright side, the vaccines are really good at preventing severe illness or death. Score a point for modern medicine there, for sure.

As for the abortions, I'm sure a pro-lifer would argue that it's horribly contagious (and highly deadly) to the fetus/baby being aborted. :coffee:

It's a matter of perspective. From other perspective, refusing vaccination puts lives at risk but is not a definitive death sentence while abortion is a death sentence. A life will be prematurely ended.

For a supposed post-partisan, open-minded liberal, you seem to have trouble understanding and respecting the perspective of those with an opposing view. :coffee:

Maybe not, but if turnout is up among child-bearing aged women I think that part of the vote goes blue

Following the overturning of Roe, the House has passed the Women's Health Protection Act of 2022, the Right to Contraption Act, and the Respect for Marriage Act. If they get hung up in the Senate, these bills should give Democratic candidates talking points that will appeal to women and moderates.

‘If’ they get hung up in the Senate? They have ZERO chance of getting 60 votes.

Does the so called ‘Women's Health Protection Act of 2022’ allow for partial birth abortion? If so, its not going to gain the donks any votes, as polls show an overwhelming majority are against late term/partial birth abortion.

‘Respect for Marriage Act’: Useless. Gay marriage is already legal, and will remain so.

This is all nothing more than donk desperation grabbing at straws that aren’t going to gain them squat this Nov.
All of the below is going to dwarf abortion in the importance to the overall electorate:
-Record Inflation
-Record Gas prices
-Recession
-Supply chain Shortages
-Bear market
-Record big city crime
-Covid issues
-Record illegal immigration (esp border states)
