Part of the context is what powers Congress should have to compel response to a subpoena. It isn't a court of law, it's a dog & pony show with committee members more interested in scoring points than fact finding. If appearance is going to be mandatory than the procedures followed by those conducting the hearing should be more stringent and similar to a court of law. Remove the grandstanding and blatant attempts to embarrass witnesses.

You're right Congresspeople shouldn't be subpoenaing other Congresspeople because it shouldn't require a subpoena to get a Congressperson to testify before a Congressional committee.

Why should a non Congressperson be compelled to respond to a Congressional subpoena and be subjected to the clown show and attempts at humiliation when a Congressperson is exempt? More Congressional rules for us and not for them?

Maybe they should clean up the circus and make it more orderly and respectful for all. That might require duct tape for some Congresspersons.
