I’m done. This place used to be an alternative to the oppressive and dishonest atmo over at AGS. But now, CS has shrunk down to just a handful of participants and the discourse is literally unchallenging, juvenile, lacking in substance or reason, and frustrating. And when I refer to “flat earthers” I do not necessarily mean people who literally believe the earth is flat. I am referring to people who choose a position in a debate, and then refuse to budge on that in the face of overwhelming, concrete evidence to the contrary of their original positions.

I generally used to not engage these people because they were such a small percentage of the overall forum population. But now I understand more than ever that being on the right side of MY side is more important than being right. Or at least reasonable.

I gave Reek a real ass fucking over Russia Russia Russia but guess what? Reek was only repeating what scads of MSM reporters were also saying. Reek still did not rely too heavily on reason or common sense but at least his biases were mainstream. He could still put forth a legitimate debate. And I never offered him irrefutable evidence to the contrary of his positions. So, Jelly is still Reek to me but in the pantheon of morons of CS he actually has left the building compared to some of you

This latest insanity over Ukraine is too close to flat-eartherism for my liking. It beggars commons sense to have so much easily corroboratable information out there in SIGINT and and imagery and yet people still deny the obvious photos from space clearly demonstrating that we live on a globe. It is Know-Nothingism in its purest form.

I agree that this site has suffered from no Cleets, Cap, and D1B. I used to go after those guys, and the insults were all in good fun, and taken that way. I trade texts with Cap and D1B, so I'm glad for that. Back in the day, we'd be laughing off-line about the hornet's nest we would stir up, and how seriously everyone took our threads. Fun times.

I definitely miss Cleets, that half-assed pseudo-intellectual.

Me too, we've missesd a couple of meetings - Cap'ns trips back and forth to Florida pass within an hour or less of our place - due to covid. I'm going to invite them out for the upcoming total solar eclipse in APR '24 and hopefully make their in-person accquaintance before that. Our farm is dead center of the track of totality for the second time, the first was in 2017.

And the offer extends to anyone else from this site too; plenty of space for camping we're on 25 acres

Nah that'll be going into his crab boil. Actually, though he's my niece's son, I can't remember ever talking to him. Just see him at family gatherings sometimes. But he's a heck of an outdoorsman. When he hunts he kills things. When he fishes he catches fish. When he goes crabbing...well...you see what happens. He lives in a "Sportsman's Paradise" parish (Cameron) and takes full advantage of it.
