Did she give graphic descriptions of this debilitating porn?

Re: Culture Wars
So let me get this straight:
1. The lady - who never went to the district - complains a Scholastic book is pornographic and sent her down some deviant path.
2. The book in question had a pic of a man and woman...kissing (GASP!).
3. Proceeds to get book restricted to 8th grade and over.
4. Lady suggests an alternate Christian publisher instead of Scholastic.
5. Christian publisher gets a district contract.
6. Turns out lady was home-schooled and is a PR representative for the Christian publisher.

Court grants Texas woman's request for emergency abortion in historic ruling

Ken Paxton is an arrogant twat.Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton responded to Cox's win in court by warning that the doctors who perform her abortion could still get sued by private citizens.
Under Texas' bans, it is a second-degree felony to perform or attempt an abortion, punishable by up to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The law also allows private citizens to sue anyone who "aids or abets" an abortion.
Paxton also threatened to come after the hospitals' licenses.

Texas would suffer a huge brain drain behind this if it weren't already too late for such a thing to happen in TexasUNI88 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 9:33 pm Court grants Texas woman's request for emergency abortion in historic ruling

Re: Culture Wars
This has always been the danger with the whackos on the right regarding abortion. There many cases of where an abortion procedure not only makes sense but is also medically correct - stillborns, significant abnormalities that make a baby's chance to live practically zero, imminent danger to the mother, etc. When the Dobbs decision came down, apparently the naive idea was that legislators would sit down and draft laws that make sense and get beyond the meme-level "abortion is bad" thinking. Apparently super naive. We have so many incompetents in government today, at all levels, that this expectation that they would competently do their job was just unrealistic. It would be good to put good judgment and rational thought back into politics. I'm sure that's naive as well.

I agree with your post except for the highlighted - I don't believe the crowd behind the Dobbs decision put any thought into it at all other than how to weaponize it.GannonFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:57 amThis has always been the danger with the whackos on the right regarding abortion. In the Republican Party, zealous loyalty matters more than competence or honesty. Competent leaders aggravate trump's insecurities so he and his MAGAt yahoo followers mock them into retirement.
I don't want any part of a party where bozos like ken paxton are heroes.

Wisconsin Considers Prosecuting Teachers and Librarians for ‘Obscene’ Books
Schools will start to wonder if they should just get rid of libraries to avoid liability and religious persecution by American taliban and moms for fascism types.
Just another step in the MAGAt yahoo unpatriotic war on public education in America.
Will they prosecute preachers for providing obscene materials to minors? One day after the Assembly education committee hearing on the bill, Dr. Jill Underly, the state superintendent of public instruction, expressed concern about increased attacks on libraries and schools on X, formerly known as Twitter. “At this moment in our history, we need spaces to engage with new ideas and our history,” Underly wrote in a Dec. 6 post. “We need it in the face of hate and increased threats and attempts at silencing. Libraries are a bastion of freedom of thought, expression, and creativity.”

They're fleeing higher taxes but I'm not sure they're going to be as culturally conservative as the natives. ken "igor" paxton and his ilk should be worried.

Trump hits Ohio governor over veto on proposed gender-affirming health care ban
Thoughtful, rational leadership. This guy gets it.“These are truly complex issues, and reasonable people draw vastly different conclusions,” DeWine said during a press conference on Friday. “This bill would impact a very small number of Ohio’s children, but for those children who face gender dysphoria, and for their families, the consequences of this could not be more profound.”
“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,” DeWine added. “Many parents have told me that their child would not have survived — would be dead today — if they had not received the treatment they received from one of Ohio’s children’s hospitals.”
