Is this where everyone forgets what their stance is on corporate free speech and corporate taxes?

Pass the Popcorn!

Exacerbated by how much they will spend against DeSantis in campaign funding.
Is this where Republicans go after companies that have a difference of opinion? Doesn't seem very smart considering that Disney donates mostly to Republicans and doing this will saddle those two counties, and it's citizens, with massive debt. Also - it's nice to seethe Florida Republicans bring this up for debate on the floor....oh wait. They didn't.
It was also not very smart of Disney to say that they would just fund the campaigns of those that will vote the way they want them to vote.Ibanez wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 7:48 amIs this where Republicans go after companies that have a difference of opinion? The idea of teaching K-3 about sex, gender, etc.. is unnecessary and 100% politically motivated.
True. And in this case DeSantis is clearly woke.
I think you're right. Any politician, Democrat or Republican, going after a company for voicing an opinion is a dangerous and short sighted activity, especially when it's the top employer in your state (but honestly - they're not packing Epcot and moving it to Colorado). Don't like Disney's stance on something, don't give them your patronage.Winterborn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 8:43 amIt was also not very smart of Disney to say that they would just fund the campaigns of those that will vote the way they want them to vote.Ibanez wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 7:48 am

All they (Disney) had to do was keep their mouth shut, especially when they just got busted for having multiple people involved in human trafficking and child related offenders. As a corporation, one should strive to remain neutral as the breaks you have lobbied for and received can just as easily be taken away.
And for the record I am against any public funding of private business ventures like stadiums and theme parks. There is plenty of blame to be spread around for both parties.
Exacting revenge b/c someone said something he didn't like
Culture warrior.
Well if the schtick fits…
Naw, the people claiming the "freedom of expression" defense are crickets when it's a right leaning company/media outlet that is targeted. Conks need to take this example and run with it. This is how you win.

..peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard..
Chapek could have grown a pair and not made his woke speech and comments.

And vice versa.SDHornet wrote:Naw, the people claiming the "freedom of expression" defense are crickets when it's a right leaning company/media outlet that is targeted. Conks need to take this example and run with it. This is how you win.
It is, but that's not my argument. We've seen how far the neo-Marxists want to take it when they have control. At this point it's just self preservation. Pushing your agenda as far as you can when the pendulum swings in your favor is now the name of the game. Anyone who doesn't recognize this has a loser mentality. I don't like it any more than you do, but these are the rules now.UNI88 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:50 amAnd vice versa.SDHornet wrote:

"They did it first" is a crappy and childish excuse.

I'd rather be a loser with scruples than a winner without.SDHornet wrote:It is, but that's not my argument. We've seen how far the neo-Marxists want to take it when they have control. Maybe someday character and integrity will be back in fashion but until then I'll try and fight the good fight regardless of how imperfect I am.
