I'll allow it - Marines are technically part of the Navy. Well played...

Ohio Democratic Senate nominee Tim Ryan says 'one of stupidest things we've ever done in this country is tell everybody they have to go to college'
"But to just have a targeted approach now — and this is part of a broader problem too, Dana, that one of the stupidest things we have ever done in this country is tell everybody they have to go to college," Ryan told Dana Bash Host of CNN's State of the Union."I mean, that was a huge mistake. We got rid of shop class. We got rid of the kind of things that really build out the working class and the skilled trades."

"And so here we are, and we have done nothing to control the costs of college," he added. "So, we're going to be in the same position here in five years."
...
Ryan, following last week's announcement of student loan debt relief, said the plan "sends the wrong message," benefitting those who are "already on a trajectory to financial security."

Ryan told Bash that while the cost of college is "outrageous," Biden's student loan forgiveness plan does not control the rising costs for a higher education, and that a tax cut is the best decision to help every working American.
No wonder this guy is giving JD Vance all he can handle.

I don't think it would. Congress never granted the President, Biden or others, that kind of power. It would be an awful mess as that thing winds its way through the courts as well. But hey, if economic conditions keep getting worse, what's one more thing to pile on with? :ohno:
Yep.
US appeals court temporarily blocks Biden's student loan handout
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with several Republican-led states

……The appeals court ruled in favor of six Republican-led states who requested that Biden's handout plan is halted while the court works through its request for an injunction…..

And the Biden admin extends it for an 8th time.
Biden then announced ahead of that deadline that he would extend the repayment pause "one final time" through the end of January 2022 – only to make subsequent extensions through early May, late August, and Dec. 31, 2022 – prior to the latest extension on Tuesday.
I guess this time he really, really, really means it..

3rd legal slapdown of Brandon‘s illegal, unconstitutional, student loan handout scheme.
Student loans relief: 5th Circuit Court rejects Biden's latest plea to reinstate program
The 3-judge panel unanimously chose not to override a decision by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman on Nov. 10.

……The New Orleans court did choose, however, to expedite the case in its docket to the "next available" oral argument.….

….Biden’s Department of Justice previously said it would request the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene if the 5th circuit denied the appeal.

The 5th circuit court case, brought by plaintiffs Myra Brown and Alexander Taylor, is one of two decisions preventing the U.S. Department of Education to move forward with the student loan program which is estimated to cost over $400 billion. The case is separate from a legal challenge filed by several Republican-led states, which was last decided by the 8th Circuit Court.

The St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also wrote an injunction blocking the student loan forgiveness program from taking effect…..

Like I said before, if they really want student debt relief, then just pass a bill through Congress to do that. Can't do it by Executive fiat.

Ex- the CDC eviction moratorium. Clearly unconstitutional as multiple courts, including SCOTUS ruled. but the WH legal counsel must have advised it was legal, otherwise you’d think they (CDC taking marching orders from the WH) wouldn’t have done it.
They know things aren't legal but they don't care. By the time this goes through the courts this genie will be out of the bottle and the damage done. Biden will get some voter support and if they've forgiven loans the outcry to suddenly make people pay 1-3 years later will be too great and nothing will happen. CDC Eviction moratorium was the same way.
I don’t think anyone is going to get out of paying in this case.
