Former Republicans and Democrats Form New Political Party

Post by UNI88 »

Former Republicans and Democrats form new third U.S. political party
Dozens of former Republican and Democratic officials announced on Wednesday a new national political third party to appeal to millions of voters they say are dismayed with what they see as America's dysfunctional two-party system.

The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. They hope the party will become a viable alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate U.S. politics, founding members told Reuters.

Love Andrew Yang, but this is a waste of time. It would be much better to create a PAC to try and influence candidates in primaries that represent what you want to see from the GOP or Donks.

I don't know if a PAC can really have a significant impact. The extremists in both parties have too much control over who gets nominated and we end up with whacko-candidates like AOChe, MTG, Omar, Gaetz, etc.

If a moderate party can gain traction, their candidates will have more appeal in general elections than the primaries and all they need is a small percentage of the House and/or Senate to become kingmakers. If neither Republicans or Democrats have a majority, neither would be able to pass legislation without the 3rd party buy-in. They would hopefully have a moderating influence on expectations and legislation.

Yep. That's what we need. Another party to steal from us whatever the other parties miss.

This is what has been happening, and yes agree. Also using Yang as an example is pretty

I get it but I do think at some point it's going to happen.

Voting for a cultist who says the 2020 election was stolen is a non-starter for me.

Why? All you’re doing is creating a never ending high inflation cycle.

We already have a 3rd party. If the Libertarians weren’t open borders I’d give them some consideration.

Andrew Yang was a broken record in the 2020 primaries and I think that kinda turned some off, but SFW....he was 100% correct. I'm not sure if UBI is the answer but Trump is just the beginning and donks who think changing demographics will stop it aren't paying attention to the slow drip of minority voters they're losing being the party of affluent white liberals.

And I don't think Donald Trump is anywhere close to as dangerous as people make him out to be (you can really just let the guy Tweet all day and let everyone else do all the work) but the next Trump could be a lot more clever and dangerous.

Well if that’s your bar, you DEFINITELY aren’t voting for Biden et.al., in 2024.

Sort of agree, if he had any kind of interest at all in anything beyond looting charities for veterans and sick children and cheating at golf we would be well and truly fucked right now - "now" being this short time before the planet gets body-slammed by The Big Picture of course

I like Jolly. Yang seems sincere but also lost. I’d love a legit third party but this one so far appears to be funded by center right establishment types. Their policies do not help the working class.

Which party would they steal the most votes from?

Not very much. I think there’s more in common aspirations between a WV coal miner and a Seattle trans barista then many are willing to admit. Unfortunately neither have much access or influence within our current system.

I’m interested to see actual policy positions and funding sources for this new party.

Is the Seattle trans barista primarily a member of the working class or the woke class?

They might have common aspirations of good wages, health care, etc. but how they prioritize them might be different.

Working class is a socio economic term. I’m not sure what a woke class is or how it compares.

What’s a woke class and how does it relate to a socio economic class like “working”?

The working class is focused on and prioritizes things like job security, wages and health care while the woke class is willing to sacrifice those things to fight an ineffective battle against climate change, to blame all society's woes on racism, etc.
