I would guess that window AC units are disproportionally used by the poor. Why does Biden hate the less fortunate?

This reminds me of the 1992 Energy Act sign by HW Bush that took effect in 1994 that did among other things:
-Limited shower heads 2.5 gallon per minute (GPM) water flow per shower head.
-Limited toilet flushes to 1.6 gallons.

Before I had a bathroom gut renovation done in 2013 I had an old showerhead that absolutely cranked out the water- I'm sure was way above 2.5 GPM, and I probably took showers around 2 min or less. The Moen I have now isn't bad, but it doesn't put out anywhere near the flow. And my showers are probably twice as long. I also wanted to have put in a new higher flush toilet. But couldn't get a new one that does more than a 1.6 gallon flush.

Then you Bush's "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007" that phased out the majority of incandescent bulbs. I don't like the light given off by those squiggly CFS or the LEDs. Before the ban on manufacture of 60 watt incandescent bulbs at the end of 2013, I bought about 250. I'm down to about 50 now. You can still buy incandescents (general service, 3 way lamps, some non standard sizes), but not for long.

I actually just ordered a bunch of general service 60 watt incandescent off Amazon. Hard to find them in stores anymore.

Shower head flow, toilet flush, light bulb types, appliances, the govt should butt out and let the free market ie consumers decide.

I usually can’t. You must take little dumps lol.
Along with the tp I’m usually 2-3 flushes on a single deuce. More if its a double deuce- you think you’re done, you’re done wiping and and flushing a couple times, about to leave, and then it hits you- you have more jumpers at the door..

Speaking of Biden’s war on appliances. Just got a new gas stove last month. Going to be getting a new window AC soon (I have central, but use a window unit in the master bedroom).

Might as well change the title of this to the "EPA's War on Quality of Life".

You all haven't seen anything yet.

I’ve been thinking of doing a window unit during the summers. My units are nearly 30 yrs old and still running but they could use some help.

According to the DOE, the new energy efficiency standards will save Americans about $1.5 billion annually and curb carbon dioxide emissions by 106 million metric tons over three decades.
WAFJ. The annual emissions of the US is on the order of billions of tons of CO2 in 1 year, and this is going to lower emissions by 100 million tons over 30 years? If there's more efficient stuff that'll do the same things the old appliances do then fine, but stop pretending you're doing anything substantive about emissions.

And what is the flip side of that coin in cost of man hours/quality of life/, etc.

It is all a shell game. The environment has nothing to do with it.
