...were the 2 most peaceful and happiest nations on Earth. Doesn't this contradict the view most "REAL AMERICANS" have about our nation. If anything, our nation is fractured and hurting. Just throwing that out there on a Sunday.

This is a direct result of those two nations leaving religion behind and focusing on enjoying the here and now. Believing in and loving your fellow man is far superior to fearing an imaginary father figure and hating those who believe differently.

I would expect Switzerland to be atop this list.
It doesn't go to war.
It has lots of money.
It holds the America's Cup Yachting trophy, even though it is landlocked.

Course, it might have just a LITTLE bit to do with the fact that neither one have to worry about defending itself against attack either.
I'd sure like to see your research showing causality between "no religion" and "happiness". Who the fcuk are you? John Lennon?

Z's old standby, give the American military all the credit for the happiness of other nations.
Denmark and Iceland have "belief in God" rates of 31% and 38%, respectively (per wikipedia/Eurobarometer report), compared with nations like Turkey and Romania, who have rates of 90-95%. Looks like a pretty good correlation to me.

Plus our media paints a pathetic picture everyday. I lead a much happier life by not paying attention to those loons.

Exactly why I stopped watching the news years ago.

Now you're a scientist? Anectodal evidence? Where's kyjelly when I need him?
I'm not crediting the MILITARY, G. I'm crediting the fact that they don't have to spend money on one or worry about defending themselves because someone else WILL. But, don't you worry, that'll be the position we'll be in in the next 15 years. Let's see how much happiness THAT brings.

Or it could have to do with cultural factors other than religion demographics.
By the way, the study cited in this article shows religious people are happier.

I'm not sure that applies to Denmark - unless you want to apply it to all NATO countries. They have their own military.
Seems to me that Denmark is fairly homogenious; over 90% of the population are ethnic Danes and Lutheran.
Maybe they are happier because they are all the same and they all agree?

In what way is this "anecdotal" evidence?

Oh, bullshit. "Defending" is a funny word. They aren't threatened by anyone and haven't been for decades. The US, still operating in brain-dead Cold War mode, likes to "count" the countries it, ahem,
defends so as to look big. You're caught up in it, sack and crack.
Fvck. Again, who's threatening them, Z? No one, becasue they don't
fvck with anyone.
Oh, is there a lesson in that???

No one's threatening them because WE'RE protecting them. How hard is that to understand? And they don't FUCK with anyone because we TELL them not to.

Bullshit on the first sentence. Who TF wants them? We haven't "protected" them from shit in four decades, though we've certainly convinced you and CDUBUCDORK of the need.
Then, re TELLing them not to fcvck with people - WTF kinda relationship is that?
"Protecting" Denmark and Sweden. Pffft. They don't give a fvck about our military. Haven't for decades. They laugh at us.
Arrogant Ugly American Conk shit.

Yeah Z, I'm sure those Icelanders are sitting around in their geothermal spas just chomping at the bit to invade Turkmenistan. Good thing we're holding them back.

When was that "happyness" poll taken? Before Iceland's economy fell off a cliff? As for Danes, I saw Claire the other day and she's still hot!

Yeah, you did. And it's not timely. She fell off the face of the Earth ten fvcking years ago, your honor.
