Re: Happy trumpsgiving!
trumpsgiving is appropriate considering trump is a fat turkey.
His message is angry, bitter and stinks of a sore loser (2020)/winner (2024). That kind of anger & stress is unhealthy and could cause a thumper. He'd be better off if he put it behind him and forgave and respected his opponents like a true Christian.
No need to make America great again. It was great before, during and after trump. It will remain great during his presidency and beyond. So believeth true red-blooded, American patriots.

He’s even classy in victory. Great leadership skills for a pluralistic nation. No wonder his followers are full of such grace and kindness.

More importantly, Kalm is roasting a duck and making my gluten free scratch cream of mushroom soup for green bean casserole.
Going to roast the carcass and giblets and make a rich duck stock which we’ll use to make pho and ramen.

Did you already forget how you acted during COVID? There was no grace and kindness in your heart. Just hate and bitterness. Was not a good look.

I was disappointed in how many of my countrymen showed a lack of community and selfishness based on misinformation. This led to needless dying and suffering. Covid wasn’t as bad as how certain people dealt with it. Similar to how Trump’s many shortcomings were glorified by his followers. A low spot in American culture for sure.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:13 pmDid you already forget how you acted during COVID? There was no grace and kindness in your heart. That is a lie. You and your grossly uninformed stance not only resulted in damage to our youth and overall health, but also a huge loss in trust.kalm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 2:48 pmI was disappointed in how many of my countrymen showed a lack of community and selfishness based on misinformation. Re: Happy Trumpsgiving!
I just had some of that last week - picked a flush of oyster mushrooms out back of the barn along with a chicken-of-the-woods. My wife's recipe isn't gluten-free though. Good year for mushrooms so far, back in the spring at the eclipse party we picked 4 lbs. of morels without leaving the property.

Hell yes! I’m looking for foraging classes. Need to update my game from when I was a kid. We have a ton of burn areas now everywhere where morels flourish.houndawg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 5:11 amI just had some of that last week - picked a flush of oyster mushrooms out back of the barn along with a chicken-of-the-woods. Re: Happy Trumpsgiving!
There's no mistaking the morels for anything else; we get them here usually in the first two weeks of April - they're around a little longer than that but by mid-April the forest floor is grown to where they're hard to see. Oysters are out now around here and with the leaves of the trees you can forage from your car. If you see a car on the back roads moving at walking speed they're looking for oysters or smoking some killer weed. Or bothkalm wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 6:54 amHell yes! I’m fairly solid on shaggy manes and morels but false morels are close enough to make me a little nervous. A woman and her kid here had serious poisoning after eating the toxic ones a few years back.

We do have a false morel around here but after you've seen one you won't be fooled - we have something called a lion's mane but I haven't heard of shaggy maneskalm wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:10 amSounds lovely!houndawg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:50 am

Shaggy manes are absolutely delicious. I’d put them on a pedestal with morels.
Chanterelles are another PNW favorite. You can buy them seasonally at Costco but the wilds are vastly superior (as with most things)

Re: Happy Trumpsgiving!
Those are as popular as morels here - excellent soup, easy to find because of their color and a longer season than morels. Around here they're the color of hiway workers vests
