It seems that the Democrats are running scared that the GOP will try to overturn the 22nd Amendment. Good luck. That's been tried 23 times by 7 members of the Congress (though the party of the sitting President didn't always have anything to do with it), but it's never even come close to happening. And does anyone in EITHER party want to deal with Trump + 4 years? He'll make the dementia issues seen in Biden seem like child's play....
The attempts (and the sitting President who COULD have benefitted):
1. Guy Vander Jagt (R-MI) 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991 (Reagan and Bush I)
2. Michael McNulty (D-NY) 1993, 1995, 1997 (Clinton)
3. Barney Frank (D-MA) 1995, 1997, 1999 (Clinton)
4. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) 1997 (Clinton), 2005 (Bush II)
5. Jose Serrano (D-NY) 9 times (5x Democratic President, 4x Republican President)
6. Harry Reid (D-NV) 1989 (Bush I)
7. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) 1995 (Clinton)
Interesting that FIVE of the 7 people who pushed this were Democrats, and one of the two Republicans did it under a Democratic President, yet the Democrats are freaking out about it. Cray-cray....
