Might be a good idea.

Wish we could come up with a feasible mechanism to do it. You Conks hate welfare, well............

Discuss.

As many horrible parents are out there and as often as we hear stories of people doing awful things to their own kids, a test that would weed out those that don't know newborns don't eat McNuggets and diapers need to be changed more than once a week.

Unfortunetly that idea goes against my nature. I don't want Government to have the ability to deny a prospective parent from having a kid.

Did anyone say it had to be the government?

Really don't need to set up a licensing system. Just make birth control convenient, safe and free to anyone who wants it.

Of course we should. We need government to control all activities of nature for us. If some people crap their pants too much then bowel movements should be licensed also.

No need to bring Mark into this.

Ok Cap'n I'll bite as I know you wouldn't have posted that without having a well thought out argument at the ready. How do we do it?

There were so many candidates that I left to our own imaginations.

D1B wrote:Hey dumbass. How ya gonna drive without the government settin the rules? How ya gonna get an education without the gubment? Who's gonna keep an eye on the qualification and licensing of doctors, engineers, pilots and others of whose hands you put your life, daily. Who keeps an eye on the environment and keeps us a safe distance from crime?

In fact, you'd be dead right now without the government. Jackass.
I assumed you and D were thinking alike on this question.

I have no answer, I'm just looking for discussion.

I think D is right, though. Education is the best answer, so Conks gotta lay off the teachers and school districts when they want to teach the kids about this. Parents, by and large, don't do it. Or, if they do, it's much too late. Commander Cat is going to be 12 in July. We're going to have the talk before his birthday.

Well, you have my opinion. I am also the guy that would prefer that you had to pass a simple test to vote in a Federal election. You would think I was the antichrist for suggesting that, but in my world our Fed Gov would be darn near impotent in involvement in your personal life. So it really wouldn't matter so much.

Well, many of us grow up to be responsible and willingly hand our nuts and tool over to a woman who can barely drive, and call it The American Way. Many of these holy unions are begat by neglecting to coat up, or pull out, and here is my point.

Maybe it would be more American to check the ammunition to a secure facility at a very young age until the time a person comes up with a solid plan and attends a few basic classes on human husbandry, after all they require this of day care centers do they not?

Don't get me wrong, WB is far from any kind of sexual urge nazi, and feels that open warfare should be encouraged and enjoyed but with blanks, not real ammunition. The consequences of firing real ammunition indiscriminately can be permanent.

Yes, but I'm not sure how the hell you'd incorporate that sort of system.

I think we can all agree there are some lowlife scumbags who just should not have reproduced.

I'd like it if only responsible people had kids. I'd also like it if delicious, nutritious, and low-calorie pepperoni pizza grew on bamboo. We all have daydreams like this that will never come true.

It's just not worth giving the government the right to decide who gets to reproduce.

Again, why does it have to be the government?

Well, a license implies required minimum qualifications to do something. You do it without a license, then some entity would have to enforce compliance. Typically it's the government through civil or criminal laws and punishments. No pain, no compliance.

No. Why does the government have the right to say what a woman can or can't do with her body? And if it isn't the government giving the license who will it be?

Not like a license would solve anything. I have seen plenty of mother fuckers who can't drive, and they all have their driver's license.

I'm not too worried about it, gang. When the Chinese take over in 2012, they're sure to make a sound decision for us.

Me niether, but the alternative is the government having to raise the unwanted kid....sorry, but I'd rather weed them out on the front side so I don't have to support them....

Yup - just like there should be a scale in women's clothing stores. Certain items of clothing (tube tops, thongs, stretch pants, etc.) shouldn't be available for purchase by any woman over the weight limit.

I actually own two tube tops.
