NC Congresswoman Virginia Foxx - evil to the core

Summary: On April 29, 2009, in a speech on the House floor, Rep. Virginia Foxx claimed that Matthew Shepard's death was merely the result of a robbery gone bad. While his killers Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson did rob him, they also admitted that they were well aware of his sexual orientation and pretended they were gay to lure him away from the bar he was in at the time. The most striking feature of the case, of course, is that during the course of a normal, simple robbery, the victim is not generally beaten, tied to a post, and left for dead.

Rep. Foxx: "The bill was named after a very unfortunate incident that happened, where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of robbery. It wasn't because he was gay. The bill was named for him, the hate crimes bill was named for him, but it's,
it's really a hoax, that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."[House Floor Speech, 4/29/09]

Don't these people have other people whose whole job is to sit around and tell them what not to say.

I don't have an issue with disagreeing with the ENTIRE concept of hate crime bills. I completely understand the reasoning behind opposing it totality.

Not for all us northwestern NCers, Jon. I find the woman and her policies to be an abomination. She was booed rather handily during the 2007 national championship celebration.
I will continue to vote against her, just wish some of the folks in this district would do the same.

I don't know anyone who votes for this woman. She's a cross-eyed cunt.
And don't think that she actually cares about ASU - she just uses her affiliation to attract alum $$$. She continually votes against bills that would provide funding/resources to the school.
I dislike this woman with every fiber in my body.

Just to throw this out there, McKinney the murderer, had been involved with Sheppard sexually, and was jealous that Sheppard wanted no more to do with him. The national opinion was that Sheppard was killed because he was gay by redneck cowboys in the red neckiest State in the Union, which is about the furthest from the truth as it could be.

Well, even back when I first started at App, I was a naive 17/18 year old that believed that the "R" beside your name was enough...then I met Virginia Foxx. I guess I owe her for helping me open my mind quicker and realize just because you're a Republican, doesn't mean you're a conservative (or logical). Not only is she horrible in Congress, she is no friend of Appalachian. She was booed, not only because of her political stances, but also because she never supported the university after getting what she wanted from it. For a chick, she's a douchebag. Glad she's not my representative.
