The honeymoon is over with Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter of PA. A senator since 1980, Specter was promised he would keep his seniority "as if I had been a Democratic Senator since 1980"...

But Specter apprently really ticked off some of his fellow Democrats, who voted unanimously to strip him of his rank, basically making him the most junior senator pn the Hill...

The Specter Party.
the one solely dedicated to getting ol arlen re-elected...

no broad-based political movement is ever going to be sustained by a plaintive cry of "moderation"... it rarely stokes the passion of the kind of people who make a political party go...

Here's one case we agree. Truth is, ideologically, neither party wants him. He's just a vote both sides would just as soon do what he's told and keep his yapper shut.

Having said that...

...TTBF...

...are more "independents" and "moderates" what we REALLY need on the Hill?

Everyone's always bitchin about polarization impeding legislative progress...but would a Congress of moderates only muck thinks up worse?
