Serious question to Gay Marriage Opponents

I have a series of serious questions for those of you that oppose gay marriage. What makes you think that you have the right to deny rights to someone simply because they love a person of the same sex? Actually, what difference does it make that someone is straight or gay? If they can do their job, or treat their kids respectfully, etc... What is the problem? How can you call yourself a Christian and then act un-Christian like? How is it any of your business, who someone chooses to love? This country is secular. No religion dominates this country; we are a collection of Jews, gentiles, Muslims and so forth.
I guess, in summation, what are your reasons for opposing gay marriage?
I anticipate a response.

I do. First thing you give em marriage then they are going to demand a whole host of other things. I mean you gotta draw the line somewhere, right? Stop them fags before they get all uppity and out of control.

Most of the arguments against it are spiritual belief-based, thus, illogical and, therefore, wholly dismissable.
End of conversation.

Pretty much. I love how the Iowa Supreme Court addressed the issue of marriage in their ruling, saying it was up to the churches, and people are still bellyaching.

If you want to see a really crazy discussion on this issue, check out the thread in the off-topic section at valleytalk.net
A few of the Wichita St. posters are really out there in their opposition.

Yeah, that one is quite Phelps-like.
I don't understand the opposition - this does not affect one single straight person's marriage, nor does it force any church to marry anyone that they don't want to.

My only real quandry with the whole thing is the effect it will have on revenue produced from estate taxes. Once you gays get CSTs like us normal folk, some serious change will be taken from the government when you all start kicking the bucket.

my favorite argument is that marriage is fo the protection of children.... blah blah blah... but they have no problem with a couple 70 year olds getting married....

I don't know, I think I can feel the sanctity of my marriage eroding as I read all these posts.
Sure hope the old bag of guts remembers to buy some booze and tonic after she gets off work today.

I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. It is that simple. I know gay people and I have nothing against them. I just believe marriage is between a man and a woman.
As a Catholic, I believe marriage is between a man and a woman in love to --->create<--- a living being. Strong EMPHASIS on CREATE.
