Comedian Wanda Sykes took a sharp swipe at Rush Limbaugh at tonight's White House Correspondent's Dinner:

"You've had your fair share of critics. ... Rush Limbaugh said this administration fails. ... He just wants the country to fail. To me that's treason. D, I don't disagree with you that there is a marked difference between opposition to Bush and opposition to Obama. however, the thread was originally about a slightly off color joke told by wanda sykes.

to address your point and enter this conversation... I'll say this as a liberal who really disliked Bush. My hostility toward Bush came from the FACT that he failed... not a desire to see him do so. I wasn't hoping for things to go wrong under Bush... I just SMH when they did. by the end, i just couldn't be bothered to care about what he'd f'd up.

for conks to claim that about Obama at this point in his administration is pure, unbridled bullshit. he hasn't been president 4 months even... he hasn't squandered a world largely united behind our cause by invading a country that didnt attack us... he hasn't goaded the world and alienated everyone with an attitude drived from Team America... he hasn't let an American city drown, because he dismantled FEMA.

Fact is, most liberals (not all certainly) weren't hoping from day one that Bush would fail and that, by extension, the country would. Much of the anger and frustration from the left came from squandered opportunities, mistakes and malice. an administration that was so hyper-political that it moved the paradigm for just how vindictive a white house could be with it's political rivals.

so much of the screaming about obama seems to stem from the simple fact that he was elected... which speaks to the conservative sense of entitlement to power... their anger and vitriol seems to boil down to "he's changing things that we did... and that's not fair... even though he was elected by a clear majority of Americans on a platform of 'change'" so I'll say something that conks used to scream at us for 7 years... if you dont like it... geeet out (only slightly in jest) or... more accurately, get your shit together and convince the American people that somehow your ideas don't just boil down to Gordon Gecko's "greed is good" speech.
