Closed circuit, now. No Conks.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Wanted to give you all a hearty pat on the behind for all your work in beating back the latest Conk insurgency. When Obama entered the race almost two years ago, the smugness of Conklodytes was palpable and, per usual, hateful. However, over time, the cream rose to the surface and the moose stew was flushed down the toilet, as it were. Much credit goes to the hard-working Progressive apparatchniks in the CS trenches rallying our komrades with visions of the New World Order (not released yet, still in committee, so keep it under your berets, cool?).

The Conks on CS are flustered and frustrated; lashing out and grasping for any minute piece of gristle they can to run down our Progressive men and women who now triumphantly occupy the positions of power in the executive and legislative branches of our ever-expanding, benificent and critical-to-our-further-well-being government. My hats are off to Board Progressives in beating back the bleating and mewling of the jealous and vengeful Conk rabble here and I wish you continued success as we contain the contagion that is conservatism on CS.

Much glory to you as you work for the ultimate goal of one currency and one government.

Seriously, it is a good read and it's from the heart, from a veteran and it expresses the concerns of many. Cognitively disabled Conks, but a lot of them!

Either you take me far too seriously TTBF or you don't understand the use of humor and exaggeration to highlight a problem. I don't feel put-upon by the world and I don't think I'm smug (and I try to be open minded enough to consider either possiblity) but I am concerned about the future of this country. I agree with AZ that Americans are becoming less self reliant and taking less responsibility for their actions and their consequences.

I've worked hard to get to where I am and I don't think it is greedy to want to be able to keep a decent amount of what I make to provide for my family now and in the future. I don't have a problem with paying taxes for the government to provide essential services and I consider defense, infrastructure, education, environmental protection to be essential. You and I disagree on what is fair and how the money should be spent. IMO, where the current administration appears to going off the rails is devoting too much to simply supporting people rather than focusing on teaching them how to help themselves.

There are a lot of people out there like me who have succeeded by busting their butts and if you tax them too much in order to provide services for those that have not succeeded, you take away the incentive to work hard and succeed. Take away that incentive and you will have fewer people busting their butts and fewer tax dollars to support the greater number of people who aren't succeeding. It's a delicate balancing act and one that politicians need to recognize rather than assuming there is a bottomless pool to take advantage of in order to fund efforts right society's wrongs.

If you think that my attitude is smug and put-upon, that's you're problem.
