I'm no peter puffer and frankly think the act is, well, icky...( ), but 2 gay men and 2 gay women marrying is NOT gonna destroy the traditional family. Something that has been rolling around in my head lately is a study from Canada in which only 5% of those that were same sex couples, actually pursued marriage.

Is that an amount too small for such an uproar, or is it the principle?

from the other side... i don't care if it's one damn couple that wants it... i've seen what happens in an emergency room when a partner is denied access to the bedside... (in this case she knocked over the attending and went in there... my dad and i helped him up and i said "good luck getting her out of there" and that was the end of it)

short version - equality is equality, and gays are entitled to the same rights as straights.

Yup. People are scared or grossed out by gays. Don't want to except anything about them. If a church doesn't want to conduct gay marriages then so be it but if they want to then let them.

Everyone needs to be friends with a gay to help understand they are no different then the rest of us. I had a friend in college that disliked gays. But then one of his best friends came out of the closet and when he listened to everything he had been through he changed his mind of gays.

I agree with that last point completely. As gay guy at Liberty (I just graduated), the amount of homophobia there was unreal, but as I slowly started to come out to more friends, they began to realize that I wasn't any different from them, other than my sexual attractions. Some didn't like it and just stopped talking to me, but the majority I've been in contact with have changed their views, at least by varying degrees.

Holy Moly! A gay guy at LIberty! That must have been quite a difficult journey to endure. Congrats on the graduation.
