What was Bush's biggest failure as President? What should he have done differently?

Angela Merkel's a milf, that was probably one of his better decisions. :geek:

I try to inject a little humor now and then, but no one can accuse me of being successful.

No worries, I definitely chuckled when I saw it. ;)

Bingo. That mixed with Iraq and Katrina created a horrible trifecta.

Conduct of the war....failure to heed advise from knowledgeable sources....too trusting and loyal to a fault....

It is indeed fashionable to hate the neocons, but I think the ire is overblown.

It is true that in some cases GW held on to personal loyalties too long, but I will take Condi Rice any day. John Bolton wasn't bad either.

I'm more concerned with the Rumsfeld / Wolfowitz / Feith trifecta of horrible incompetence....say what you will about Powell, but he is a knowledgeable man and carries influence throughout the world....his presentation to UN swayed the support on Iraq invasion....Bush's decision to place him on a shelf in favor of Rummy is indicative of his poor decision-making and ability to be influenced by Cheney....

Really I didn't care for Cheney, Rove, or Rummy. I didn't have a problem with Rice or Powell.

Overspending...which included Homeland Security and the Iraq War.

Starting the Iraq War. IMO it didn't need to happen at all, and may have undermined our efforts in Afghanistan.

Overspending is definitely the biggest, followed by the conduct of the Iraq war. I still think getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do, but since hindsight is 20/20 there should've been a different strategy.

Guys,
Bush shit himself with Iraqistan, but this economic crisis was something that no one foresaw. It isn't his fault. We had never faced such a thing and no one, even Superman, coulda done anything to lessen the effects, much less reverse it. We, as a nation all own this economic thing.

That's why I hate to see Conks deride Obama for at least attempting to do something about it, "radical" as some may feel his ideas may seem.

We should all be ashamed of ourselves.

Hasn't Obama spent more than Bush in the past few months?

He's put us into more debt the combined sum of all previous presidents in the history of the country.

Tough question about an administration that was the definition of failure.

Out of the long list of failures that will forever define the Worst President Ever during his eight-year Reign of Incompetence I'm most nervous about the civil rights ones. DHS, warrantless wiretap, "free-speech zones"....that's the kind of stuff that doesn't go away when the perp leaves office. Which is also why I'm puzzled by the NRA folk. They don't seem to realize that the assault on gun-ownership will come through the 4th Ammendment.

Carrying cash when you drive across the land? Probably drug money, hand it over son, along with the car keys.

And we'll take these guns that we found during our warrantless search of your home on an "anonymous tip", they may be terrorist-related. We'll determine that later.

BTW, the AG says you might be a terrorist, we're going to need you to report to our summer camp in Cuba while we spend a couple of years getting this straightened out.
