The New Hampshire House today narrowly rejected the changes to the same sex marriage bill that the Governor demanded be added in order for him to sign the bill.

The amendment, HR 73 would give protections to churches should they refuse to perform a marriage.

Some supporters of the marriage bill rejected the amendment saying it was not needed.

The amendment failed 186-188 after passing the Senate earlier in the day 14-10.

The bill now goes to a Committee of Conference to attempt to reword the language to satisfy both chambers.
