Political Leanings Of Your Parents.....

I make a big (mostly humorous) deal about Conks being afraid to abandon their parents' Conkiness for fear of being written out of the mansion-lake home-seven-Hummers-and-yacht inheritance. But, what were/are your parents' pol leanings?
Grandpa Cat, mine and D1B's father and a wonderful man, was a hardcore Cathoic Conk in his last twenty five+ years, but I can remember him being a big separation of church and state guy early on when he told me at about age 12 that he was even uncomfortable with the St. Charles, IL, school district providing bus service for us to St. Pat's school there.
Grandma Cat just voted as he did, Conk all the way, until last year, when she got sick of Conkiness due to Busch and voted for Obama, God bless her soul.
Thoughts?
"Goddamn it, Steven, turn off that rock 'n roll shit! Don't you know niqqers, Jews and communists are behind that crap?!?!?!?!???"

I have no idea what my parents are. I assume conservative because of the area i grew up in, but have no idea. Politics were never talked about in my house, and for the most part I think my parents are apathetic.
I have my political beliefs and religious beliefs (that one is much to the chagrin of my mother) from my life on my own since I started college in August 2006.

My folks are independents and vote with whomever candidate best matches how they feel. Dad voted for Gore in 2000, Bush in 2004, and McCain in 2008. He still to this day swears that JFK was the best Prez America ever had. He served in the military under LBJ and to this day still can't stand him.

LBJ was a difficult, enigmatic guy. JFK had a ton of unrealized potential thanks to Oswald. Dad still around, CM?

Yep. He's 65, semi-retired. Mom is 71. Great folks. Raised me well. As I get older, they've become good friends as well.

In my younger days, my dad was a died-in-the-wool-straight-ticket-voting-union member Democrat...
I don't know if he was truly a liberal...JFK is a political hero of his...but you'll find a picture of JFK in most homes in my home town...
Now, he's realized the mistake of straight ticket voting, and has voted for a few Republicans...only a few...
My mom never talked about politics...I have no idea how she felt on political issues...

My mother is an independent. She has traits from both sides of the aisle, so that is why I would have to categorize her as such.
The old man is a through and through conk.
Politics and religion were not discussed in our house. I suspect that is why I have such a positive outlook on religion. I got to choose how I wanted to follow without it being crammed down my throat.

Mine are what you call Reagan Democrats. We live in a heavily Democratic area, but they are conservative in their ideologies.
Like Southern Dems, they vote Democratic at the local-state level, but Republican at the top.

Dad was a loyal Republican, but he hated watching politics on TV, particularly conventions. Conservative, but not an ideologue.
Mom was a Republican but generally apolitical. She had a soft spot for gays, probably because of her lifelong theatrical background.

Your parents sound pretty cool, IT. Kinda like religion oughta be, they kept the politics to themselves.

They were pretty cool, Cap'n. I miss them every day. They were always there for my sister and me when we needed them.

The Conk part, or the religion part?
I know what you are saying.

My mom was a very devout Catholic, but was very liberal-minded. My father was non-religious, but very conservative-minded. They NEVER voted as long as my mother was alive, since they figured they'd just cancel out each other's votes....
I've got 7 sisters and 2 brothers....divided about equally on the liberal/conservative scale, from Lenin-like communists to Montana Freemen-like conservatives. And 23 nieces and nephews that fall mostly on the liberal side. Also, most of my aunts and uncles are liberals (union pukes), and THEIR kids are mostly liberal as well.
Fookin' idiots.

mom and dad are moderate dems. grandma on dads is was a new dealer, great grandpa was socialist. on moms side, they voted and stressed the importance of doing so, but never talked ideology (my hunch they were dems)
i was a goper in my teenage years
many of my boomer-aged aunts and uncles are hardcore conks... so are their kids...
