Sotomayor hearings to begin July 13

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy says confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor will convene on July 13.

Leahy said the date presents a "reasonable schedule" that would give members of the committee several more weeks to prepare.

President Barack Obama has urged the Senate to vote on confirming Sotomayor to the high court before it leaves for a congressional recess in August. Republicans have pressed for more time to consider the nomination.

I bet she gets confirmed fairly quickly with most conservatives backing off their attacks.

We'll see, TTBF. You're paid to count votes -- I'm not. My real point is that this won't be a close call. ;)

Enzi and Bareassho risk pissing off the beaner population of their home state, but they must think they can afford to.

Wait until one of the ethnic homies gets to prepare the secret enchilada sauce for either of these puppets next time they visit our towns.

after further review, i think you're right... that would be a politically dangerous move for him...

and Ivy - you're correct this won't be a close vote unless something changes big time.
