Make $100 the sleazy way

Post by Col Hogan »

Great story about a sleazy lawyer (my apologies to the good lawyers here)
Personally, I find Mr. Rava as odorous as a bag of dyspeptic hamsters. He's a greasy manipulator who has found a small leak in American law and stuck an open wallet under it. When they wrote California's Unruh Civil Rights Act in 1959 -- the act Rava cites in his suits -- they never thought soulless creatures like him would someday slink about the earth.

Well, it takes all kinds. And just because he happens to be a lawyer doesn't make him any more of an asshole.

But on the other hand, if Cap'n Cat was there he could have got a little work out in, a free mammogram and a fishing hat....

I will await my punishment in the corner for my remark.

I'm not against the charity shit and like to pitch in whenever it arises to help out. That being said he should have just asked the ballpark if they are doing a similar promotion for Fathers day and if the were then his discrimination claim is null and void. If they do not do that then he might have been able to instigate a positive and have a similar promotion on the other side.

The compensation paid to the plaintiff and other members of the class is only half the story.

If some national journalist, like a 60 Minute reporter, ever did an expose on class action lawsuits, and the compensation paid to class action counsel for representing the class, your head might shake in disbelief.

Talk about a well-intentioned concept which has been abused.

Especially the class action derivative suits where millions of plaintiffs get paid $5 a share, etc. Can't necessarily blame the attorneys though. I believe all of these attorneys fees are approved by the court.

What a tool bag. Here's his info from the State Bar of California, if you're interested in contacting him. He's also on LinkedIn, but very little information.

What's amazing is that Rava's own mother died of breast cancer at age 53. How would she feel about his crass-action lawsuit?

I've really enjoyed the time I've had & the opportunity I've had to spend with lawyers in my life...
A classy bunch...

Particularly the one who my wife hired (that I paid for) in California who spent what looks like 28 billable hours @ $250.00 an hour - to convince her that the amicable pre-negotiated divorce was not in her best interest...

And then the patent lawyers from GE who sued my team at Scientific-Atlanta for technology infringements - they cost us about $175,000.00 in fees and we won... because they didn't even really understand what we were doing (nor did they listen to us when we explained that to them clearly) but don't let complete lack of understanding stop you from ringing up hundreds of thousands in legal fees

And the ones at Dolby Labs who (for some strange reason) attempted to destroy the 20 year relationship and technology sharing agreement between our two companies - by all appearances so they could "look like they were doing something" allowing them to stay on retainer I guess...

:coffee: I struggle to find the right words to properly express my feelings about lawyers
- Big 10 Football - So boring Wisconsin is our most exciting team...
- Big 10 Football - Where 117th ranked Purdue is dominant...
- Big 10 Football - Where team speed and passing offense are not required...

Will you be in New York soon? I have some papers for you ...

(I'm not going to say you're wrong; the problem with having too many lawyers is that they all need to do something).
