Inspector General Walpin Fired: Obama Got One Right

Interesting news piece about the Obama Administration's decision to "fire" Inspector General Gerald Walpin, who was in the middle of an ongoing audit/review/investigation of Americorps. RINO Sen. Grassley started bitching about Walpin's removal, believing it resulted from Walpin's complaints about the White House's refusal to "cooperate" concerning an investigation into Sacramento Mayor (former NBA star) Kevin Johnson's non-profit St. Hope education foundation...the alleged "connection" was that Johnson was an Obama supporter, ergo, the Obama Administration was running interference for Johnson.
Here's what the press IS NOT REPORTING.
Johnson won the Mayoral race in November unseating 20 year City Rep, and two term Mayor Heather Fargo in a very nasty battle. Fargo was well-connected within the Democrat party, and was a lock-step limousine liberal who blocked development, extorted from developers, abusively enforced environmental policies, opposed professsional sports tacitly with her refusal to provide tax incentives for new sports facilites, and was a textbook knee-jerk social-engineer feminazi. Unfortunately for her, as liberal as the City of Sacramento was, even the neo-libs grew weary of her obstructionist, extortionist practices, and when Kevin Johnson (well known in the community from when he played for the Sacramento Kings) stepped forward with some common sense, non-partisan, non-extremist agenda proposals, Sacramentan's jumped at the chance to "fix" some of the problems resulting from almost 20 years of City Hall's death-grip liberal extremist policies.
And here's where the story gets interesting...
Johnson didn't announce his intention to enter the Mayoral race until March of 2008, just two month before the primary in June. Within a month of his announcement...the Sacramento Bee, a notoriously biased Democrat-machine mouthpiece, leaked that they were "investigating" and old complaint involving one of Johnson's charitable foundations, THAT HAD BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE INSPECTOR GENERAL A YEAR EARLIER, AND THE INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN DROPPED. Simultaneously, Incumbent Fargo held a press conference announcing her support for a re-opening of the investigation, and et voila' less than a week later, the I.G.'s office has investigators back out at the high school run by Johnson's foundation, accompanied, of course, by a full contingence of press coverage. The connection between Fargo and the CA Democrat enforcers in Congress (read: Matsui, Feinstein), were so apparent that there was an audible outcry from virtually every press agency in the region that Fargo had pulled strings with her Democrat bud's in Congress to subvert the I.G.'s "objectivity" and force a re-investigation of Johnson...
...whew...
...now...
...why was Walpin fired?
In April this year, under pressure to cover their ass, the Walpin managed investigation was resolved with a face-saving civil settlement with Johnson's charitable organization, and that's when the Obama Administration stepped in to review what Walpin's fishing expedition was all about.
Grassley's call for the Obama Administration to explain their reasons, is most likely a political glad-hand to cover fellow Senator Feinstein's (and other Democrat Congressmen's) involvement in the initial, inappropriate, use of Walpin's I.G. position to attack a political opponent...in this case...non-partisan Johnson.
Obama did the right thing in firing Walpin, and Grassley needs keep the Walpin dismissal out of this debate.
