Exactly, if Jon would just STFU right now and allow the president to fix all the conk fuck ups, he would do more to advance his cause in the long run.

So if Iraq is a conk ****up (thousands dead, $1 trillion wasted, regional instability, world hates us), the economy's a conk ****up (millions out of work, car/bank industries in the crapper, foreclosures galore, all while the rich get richer thanks to tax cuts and obscene executive pay), global warming's a conk ****up (gutted EPA prohibited from regulating greenhouse gases), education's a conk ****up (No Child Left Behind regs punishing underperforming schools), etc.

Then how exactly is 1 whiny gay guy and his pals preventing Obama and his majorities in Congress from fixing things? Is Jon keeping BHO from bringing our troops home from Iraq? From eliminating the Bush tax cuts? From implementing cap n' trade? From providing health care for all?

The Democrats own Washington - it's Jon's fault that all they're doing is racking up trillions in debt while watching North Korea aim nuclear weapons at us and Pakistan and Iran disintegrate?

well Jon, maybe the GOP will be "more supportive" of gay rights... hell, they might even acknowledge your right to exist sometime in the next decade (don't hold your breath)

i get some frustration, but what i dont understand is... politically... where you gonna go? you going to abandon the party that's been carrying water for your cause for 20 years? all because obama doesn't want to expend all of his political currency on this instead of say... health care reform (which we've been fighting for since 1960) or fixing the GOP-ravaged economy....

Both parties suck a dick. The dems were every bit as culpable in the ravaged economy yet you fucks think we're dumb enough to believe that it was the GOP?

Been working on the health care for nearly 50 yrs. and can't get it done? Maybe the general public doesn't think it's that great of an idea then. Maybe they have rightfully thought that government may not be the best steward of even more of their money. Maybe they could make more head way by helping the 40 million that need help with insurance instead of the forcing all 300 million under one roof?

Maybe the dems would have more clout if they actually followed through with what they told their constituents that voted for them that they were gonna do...or at least not pull back from their promises. Maybe both parties ought to work on getting some credibility back by keeping their word instead of the excuse machine cranking up once they got their votes.

If that businesses stance was to say consistently "what you are gonna do, go give your money to the guy across the street?"

Think of votes as dollars for this analogy. It's a hell of way that we keep letting these people do business.

Agree.....and it won't change until a viable third party emerges....why should they change? Voters have been buying the same song-and-dance from these two parties and returning one or the other to power consistenetly....so, is it really a problem?

Myself, and most gay people I know will never vote for ANYONE that does not support full equality immediately. I know many that have already changed their registration. I am going to do so as well.

Hopefully, there is a party with a "live & let live attitude out there who would welcome the millions of disenfranchised voters (and their dollars)....perhaps a socially progressive, fiscally conservative party....will the L party seize the opportunity? Anyone else a potential candidate?

well he was a supply sergeant... dunno about what he "supplied" but i suppose it's possible... his memoirs did describe that time as "laying pipe in the south" but i always thought that meant plumbing. but since the south didn't get that until 1995... it probably was a euphemism...
