We could send some troops over there to help liberate them. The oil is a good benefit too. Hear they may have WMDs as well. And aren't they supporting terrorists?

They will welcome us with flowers, and we can use the oil to pay for the war...

Joe Biden is a prophet. He said it would take 6 months. Iran and NoKo have challenged Obama's leadership in 5.

The emperor has no clothes.

Here's what I said on AGS.

If he (Obama) said something in support on Mousavi, then the Iranian Government would say that he is being back by the "great devil" as they've called America for the last three decades and America is universally hated over there, it would polarize Mousavi to a lot of people who are in the streets.

As for the voter turnout. here's a video which condenses to three minutes why the elections were more-than-likely rigged

Another reason it might be rigged, that came out after the above video was made, was that 30 towns reported more than 100% voter turnout.

Change is happening in Iran. Anonymous has an underground message board in support of the protesters which gives and gets info from Iran, 4chan is helping Iranian young people navigate around the government firewalls and blocks. Twitter and Facebook is being used as an information highway. This isn't something that was forced by Western countries or any outside forces. This is the Iranian people standing up for what they believe in.

This is the first time EVER in which masses of people have disobeyed the Ayatollah Khamenei's orders (to stop protesting). Since the government claims authority by divine sanction by God and the Ayatollah said the election results are divinely ordained, they don't believe the government has divine authority anymore. That's a huge blow to the government's grip of power. The protesters have been shouting "Death to the Dictator", referring to Ahmadinejad who has acted as such in the wake of the protests.

Another thing is that several top military and police figures have expressed support for Mousavi and thus many have been jailed. So the protesters have support in high places.

This will either end up like Tiananmen did or like the Soviet Coup, which would mean massive reform. Ahmadinejad believes in a specific sect of Islam that believes that the Middle East should be "bathed in blood as soon as possible" and is fervent in that belief. He believes that as President of Iran, he can bring that to past and will protect his spot with violence, believing in whatever means necessary via divine ordination.

------------------

Obama basically has said that he condemns the bloodshed and that the Iranian government should listen to it's people, which is all he really should say until things are more clear. Let action take it's course over there.

Here's another great video showing Iranian protesters taking on police forces.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/persian/iran/2009/ ... shes.shtml

I have a feeling those police forces will soon be replaced by tanks and infantry will automatic weapons.

Great post, T-dog. Those on here and in Washington calling for Obama to do more should read and take to heart your post.

Obama doing anything more would hurt the cause at this point.

No doubt about it. I don't know why some people think we have to have an opinion AND state that opinion right up front as if it were gonna do some good. We should keep out mouthes shut and stay the fuck out of it until we are asked for help.

... nope.

funny thing is, outside of some keyboard commando neocons who are keen to have us at war with the whole world... pretty much everyone agrees on this course of action. i don't know too many modern GOPers who would have pursued it (seeing as their approach to foreign policy so often seems derived from the cast of Idiocracy) but most mainstream GOPers acknowledge the current approach is likely the correct one.

not possible... the alternative last november already ran his mouth telling us what he would he would have done...

he would have shot his loutish mouth off and quashed it all by tying Moussavi to the Americans on the second day of protests... or we would have, as he said "bomb, bomb, bomb... bomb, bomb, iran..."
