Interesting perspective, Cleets. I read it a bit differently: Osama attacking the US may be the only thing that gets the current administration's attention AWAY from the miserable policy failures of cap and trade and universal healthcare. THOSE are what will doom this country ultimately, not some "attack" from a third-world terrorist.

Obviously an attack will take place at any moment, but not by a foreigner.

It will be those among us.

Michael F. Scheuer is a former CIA employee. In his 22-year career, he served as the Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004. Scheuer became a public figure after being outed as the anonymous author of the 2004 book Imperial Hubris, in which he criticised many of the common United States and Western world assumptions about the motives for Islamic terrorism, and put these into the context of greater Western-Islamic relations.

I saw it that way too. But it was a really dumb thing to say.

Well, as I have alluded, there seem to be plenty of our own citizens prepared to take matters into their own hands to force the Government to do things their way. I have no idea why Scheuer thinks only Bin Laden can do the necessary task.

The fact that a man who has promised the citizens of this nation a silver platter to get himself elected, promising "tax cuts for 95%"-his words-of the nation and yet turns around, spends 870 billion that we don't have in "stimulus" money which has created NO jobs, has NOT brought back consumer confidence and is also working on a plan to nationalize our energy and our healthcare which will cripple the average consumer, raising taxes (taxes for cleaner air. WTF ever?), PEOPLE IN BOTH INDUSTRIES will lose their jobs there by furthering to cripple the economy to satisfy how HE FEELS America should be run just because he feels it's been ran wrong for the last 233 years. I actually heard this interview and what he was saying is that the last thing that Obama needs is for Osama to attack and steal his thunder. Were there to be another attack, the American people may begin to demand security, as they did under Bush right after 9/11. He proposed that the attack would spur people into a new direction. He said more than once that Osama would have to be an idiot to attack right now and that if he waits, complacency will likely make it easier to produce a catastrophic event.

I think Osama will attack us as soon as he is in a position to do so.

I think Mr. Scheuer was trying to make a point (as opposed to trying and aid our enemy), I just think that the way he went about making it was really dumb.
