CONCORD – New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte has resigned her office to explore a campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2010.
Ayotte, 41, of Nashua, has been considered a likely candidate for the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., who has said he will not seek re-election. Her move comes after former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu announced last week he would not be a candidate.
Ayotte, a Republican, said in a brief statement that she will not discuss her political plans in detail until her resignation takes effect 10 days from now, on July 17.

Ayotte was just reappointed to a new four year tern in March and promised Governor Lynch that she would serve out her entire term. Lynch took a lot of heat for reappointing the republican.

What's more honorable?
1) to resign in order to dedicate your efforts to campaigning for election to another position
2) to keep your current elected position while spending considerable time campaigning for another position

How about honoring her commitment to serve her entire term she was only recently appointed to?

I can't find a source, but for some reason I seem to remember Hillary telling the voters of New York, that if she was elected to the Senate, she would fulfill her term.
Seems she didn't, but as stated, I am only working off of memory here.

in 2000 Hillary Clinton promised to serve her entire term if elected, she was and she did. She made no such promise when running for re-election in 2006, in fact she suggested voters take into account the fact that she would make no guarantees about what the future would bring beyond that election.
Q: In 2000, you promised to serve a full 6-year term. Will you make the same promise today?
CLINTON: I am running for re-election. I have made no decisions about any future plans. If that’s a concern for any voter, they should factor that into their decision on Nov. 7. We need a new direction, and that’s what I’m going to focus on.
Q: So you can’t make that promise then today?
CLINTON: I’m not looking past this election. But I’m going to be very clear with the voters, I can’t make a decision now, but if that concerns any voter, they should factor that in.
Q: Are you saying don’t vote for you if that’s a concern?
CLINTON: No, I think they should vote for me, but they should balance that against everything that I’ve done, my record and my values.

Oh so now you can't take steps to further your career when the opportunity arises? This thread should have been titled "Another worthless bitchy thread by UNHWildcats and his cunty view as it pertains to the other team".
You have zero credibility with your bullshit UNH by trying to say this is different from Hillary. I'm sure the voters believed she was gonna continue working on their behalf.

I've never once called myself bipartisan or tried to pass myself off as bipartisan, so its pretty pointless to accuse me of having no credibility.
But this is different then Hillary... She made a promise to serve her full term in 2000 and she did, she admitted in 2006 that she couldnt make a similar promise and suggested voters take that into consideration before they voted. She still easily kicked the crap out of her opponent by the way.
Ayotte promised the Governor in March when she was reappointed that she would serve the entire term.... Now three months later she resigns. Surely she knew then what she knows now as it was known a month before she made the promise that Senator Judd Gregg wasnt going to run for re-election.... She says the landscape has changed since she made the promise, truth is it changed long before she made it.
But I suppose this is all ok... In 2010 she will lose to Rep Paul Hodes and then New Hampshire will have completely ridded itself of her. Meantime we can now get an honorable Attorney General for the state.

So she made this promise in the hopes of getting 5 months salary and then resigning her position? Is it possible that something that you do not know about has made her resign? I know you are partisan as many here are but you are sickeningly partisan to the point that you make these overly emotional threads about things that makes it appear that you have no ability to think for yourself.
This type of thing means so much to you right? If you want me to I can point out to you that you were advocating that Danny Ainge resign as well as others before their contracts expired. The honoring of contracts must be really, really, really important to you.

She was pretty clear about why she resigned...
She said, “It was a very difficult decision to resign as attorney general, but it was an important one if I wanted to explore a run for the Senate.”

Yes, I saw that but for some reason she now feels she has more of a reason to pursue it than she apparently did previously. What I don't see from you is a defense of your position on how strongly you feel about people resigning before contracts are up? It's OK in this situation but not that one type of a thing.

I never advocated for Danny Ainge to resign... I called for his ass to be fired... there's a difference. And again this has nothing to do with people not finishing what they started... Its about walking away after promising not to.... Of course Palin isnt so much a bad person for walking away... she never promised, at least that I am aware of to serve the entire term... Palin is just more stupid because the rest of her term in no way interfered with running for President and if she indeed does run, she will lose, because no one is going to want a quitter for a President.

sorry UNH - I think this is the honorable thing to do.
Especially for an AG, whose job is vital, day in and day out to the people being served... that job requires 100% commitment.
I agree with 88 on this one... I think the people of her state are better served by her doing this. I don't think you get any partisan points for dinging her on this... her defense of it makes her look really good...

Kind of like that bitch Obama who bailed after a year in the Senate before running for a bigger office. Give me a break Travis: 1) grow up and quit calling women, you've never met, bitches, and 2) this is no different than what most people do when they run for a bigger office during their terms. Quit putting the pussy on a pedestal.

It used to be common for male politicians to resign their current job to concentrate on a future campaign. Now we're harrassing Republican WOMEN for to do that?

Yes you've called for to die, be fired, and if you're trying to say you've never advocated someone that you don't like resigning you're a fuckin' liar. I'm not gonna spend the time looking for the proof but I'm sure it's out there. I was starting to look before I signed off last nigh and then I thought to myself "why the fuck would I fall into the minutia of a UNH thread?" and stopped. I open about 10% of the threads that you start for that very reason and I made the mistake of even answering this one, my bad. It's the same ol' one note, bullshit palaver from you.

To me saying republican bitch is like saying democrat fag.
How would UNH react to that.
I agree with the use of bitch. I use it, but never in a derogatory way. I'll say son of a bitch or bitch please, but never as a description
