I feel bad for the kids, not so much the wife. I think she will be fine, and didn't really care where he was in the first place if I am remembering correctly.

What this whole situation tells me, is that many of those with power and wealth, will put themselves above all others when it suits them. They don't give two sh!ts about anyone else but themselves.

Appa, this has everything to do with Sanford becoming a Dem character assassination target for speaking out against the Obama Admin. All over the country, poli's both Donk and Conk cheat on their spouses and sneak around in luxury on the taxpayer's dime, yet MSM turns a blind eye as that behavior is S.O.P. for politicians. How many times have politicians held press interviews discussing their personal lives/aspirations on government property? Yet, when Palin did it a Dem operative filed a formal ethics complaint against her. Same with Sanford. He is another conservative who dug his heels in and said he would allow his state to become subjugated by the Obama Admin socialist policies: Hence, he cannot blow his nose now without some Soros backed group (CREW) digging the used tissue out of the garbage to determine if it was "taxpayer" purchased kleenex used for personal benefit.

And the "infidelity issue" only seems to matter when the offender is a conservative; an offense apparently morally "justified" depending on party affiliation.

Mark Sanford's fiscal child abuse

Remember Ty'Sheoma Bethea, the Dillon, S.C., girl who asked Congress for stimulus funds to rehab her dilapidated middle school? I thought she was an inspiration for America; wingnuts at the Washington Times thought she was "irresponsible" for asking government to solve her problems.

Now her governor, Mark Sanford, has taken that line of thinking one step further: He told Fox's great poet Glenn Beck that taking stimulus funds to fix schools like Bethea's would be "fiscal child abuse," while rejecting the funds helps kids. No, I'm not kidding.

Last of the True Believers?
By risking his popularity now, Mark Sanford may be quite popular in 2012.

Dr. No: Sanford wants less stimulus for his state, to the consternation of many voters

There's a cool rain falling on the South Carolina State House, but it's nothing compared to the storm inside. The date is April 2, 44 days since President Obama signed his stimulus package into law and 24 hours, or so everyone believes, before the nation's governors can no longer claim their full share of the funds—something the Palmetto State has yet to do. Frustrated legislators mill and murmur in the lobby, awaiting the bell that will call them to their chambers for yet another round of anguished debate. Protesters, mostly teachers, wave handmade signs outside the entrance. On the lower level, a receptionist lifts her endlessly ringing phone from its receiver and repeats a single phrase—"The governor's office, hold please"—again and again (and again). Meanwhile, the man himself, Gov. Mark Sanford, sits behind a closed door 30 feet away, pausing in the midst of the crisis to "visit," as he puts it, with a reporter from a national newsmagazine. And he is starting to cry.

CREW was pleased to learn South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has initiated an investigation into Gov. Mark Sanford's (R-SC) affair. Last Friday, we called on the AG and the South Carolina State Ethics Commission to investigate whether Sanford violated the state constitution and broke state law by misleading his staff regarding his whereabouts, leaving the state leaderless, and misusing state funds to conduct the affair.
