Coolest July 21 recorded in Nashville as cool wave continues in Tenn.

By Associated Press
7:59 AM CDT, July 21, 2009
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Cool weather has broken a previous low temperature for July 21 in Nashville that was set when Rutherford B. Hayes was president.

When the temperature at the National Weather Service station dipped to 58 degrees at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, it wiped out the previous record low for the date of 60 degrees, which was set in 1877.

NWS forecaster Bobby Boyd noted it was the third consecutive morning when Nashville either tied or broke a daily low temperature record.

:ugeek:

Hey...

...let's relocate the polar bears to Nashville...

And Washington DC has hit its average high only two or three days since the first of June...most days have been between 2 to 7 degrees below average....

Keep dancin 'round in your Birkenstocks, Hippie! Your days of threadfoolery are numbered.

Take a peak...

I have the DVD and am ripping out all the good 10-30 second spots for posting on YouTube. Original footage was done in 1988...project of a Seattle Film Inst. indy editor...most of it from the Okanogan Valley...this shit is PRICELESS. Has one of the best tree-hugging scenes I've ever seen...bitch wet herself humping the damn thing. The selfless piety and arrogance is beyond description.

Better put the second pair of pants on quick...you're about to get your Hippie ass spanked mercilessly.

Not that it proves global warming one way or another, we've had 16 of 20 days in July, below normal temps in Minnesota, and it's heading east.

FWIW, global warming by melting the freshwater glaciers into the ocean can cause global cooling by changing the major ocean currents that affect the weather, such as the gulf stream.

lol... i love the "it's chilly today... thus debunking climate change" followed by smug grin of self-righteous crusty middle aged man (and it's almost always them... is it not?)

it's climate change archie... and this summer in alaska (warmer than much of minnesota) would indicate that "climate change" is occurring

Is Minnesota REALLY the standard by which we want to compare all other states? :shake: :shake: :shake:

TTBF has a valid point. An unusually cool summer neither proves nor debunks global warming.

Please stick to using rational pseudo-scientific arguments and/or juvenile name calling to prove your points? :D

I don't deny climate change, it is a natural thing. However, this bull shit Al Gore spews I do deny.

The Earth does shit like this on it's own, and has for millions of years prior to people, and will for millions of years after people.

However, I do like the fact it has gone from global warming causes the Earth to get hot and unlivable, to global warming actually makes the Earth cold and unlivable.

He's fine D. I don't think that anyone can argue that climate change is a natural phenomenon. The question is what impact does man have on the natural cycles? Is it negative? Is it significant? Can we do anything about it? Should we do anything about it?

You and I might disagree with clenz but at least he's not using bs arguments about how it's been an unusually cold summer therefore global warming isn't happening.

Um...
I have some opinions on this matter  and one of my opinions is "everybody who happens to live on the earth should look into this phenomenon and develop an opinion" those of you who live on Pluto (and that's you T-man) can do otherwise...

1) There is junk science on both sides of the argument (period)
2) There is money to be made on both sides of the argument (period)
3) There is no definitive answer as to mans effects on global climate change
4) It is however likely that 6.5 billion of us are having an effect
5) If you encounter somebody who is extremely adamant about one side or the other you have likely encountered somebody who has done very little actual research and simply believes what they have been told or somebody who will actually benefit from mis-information on one side or the other...

there is still much to learn...
however: By default we should conserve as that is always the proper approach to all resources (period)

:coffee: as you were...

At one time in the history of the earth, one third of North America was covered in glaciers. Those glaciers melted creating among other things, some of those lakes you have in Minnesota. There were no SUVs. There were no coal-fired power plants. There were no people. It was a natural phenomenon, no doubt caused by the warming of the sun but I wasn't there so I can't say for sure. How do we know that what's happening today isn't just a continuation of a natural process? And why do we want to turn our lives upside down on a guess?

It's not as if the proponents do the same thing. The global warming alarmists used the hurricane seasons in 2005 and 2006 to try and get everyone riled up and afraid about global warming even though there was no real solid science behind linking the hurricanes to climate change. They have also taken advantage of places that are having record high temperatures for any place.

it's a bit of apples and oranges... the folks making the case for climate change and it's effects are pointing toward specific trends - moreso than isolated incidents and a chilly day... what most climate change advocates point to is global temperatures, changes in seasonal temperatures over broad swaths of land, increases in the severity of meteorological events and glacial melt.

their point is that it's "climate change" and they are using broad swaths of evidence... my point was more the jackass who walks out of an office building on a chilly day and, thinking he's far more clever than he is, says "global warming my ass" like he's either a brilliant comedian or cutting social commentator...

ps... the science of why 05 and 06 hurricane seasons were so bad, and why the 06 (iirc) tornado season was so bad is rooted in a warming gulf of mexico - something that's really tough to dispute, since it can be measured... the frequency of hurricanes i don't think can be blamed on it really (that owes more to winds aloft and in 05 particularly the conditions were ideal for formation) but the severity of the storms once they entered the gulf is hard to deny - they drew their fuel from the abnormally warm water of the gulf...

So Cappy did go to Spring Break at Panama City circa '05-'06. Heard there was an unconfirmed sighting.
