Increased sales and sin taxes and an income tax surcharge could raise nearly $1 billion.

After more than a month of strained negotiations about how to raise money to offset a gigantic state budget deficit, lawmakers saw a third path Tuesday morning: Raise the tax burden on everybody.

The Senate put forth a plan that takes pieces of both the House and Senate proposals without giving either chamber what it really wanted.

The proposal calls for increases in sales taxes and sin taxes, as well as a two-year surcharge on corporate and individual income taxes for all taxpayers, to raise $990 million. It would put the total budget for this fiscal year at about $18.9 billion.

I thought that comment would get you a little more riled than that. I must confess to a little disappointment.

As to the fact that I should have to pay more taxes, because I'm not pulling my weight, or doing my part, please feel free to suck my crank. I pay almost 49% of every penny I earn to some govt. entity. I pay in way more than I get out.

We are not over taxed in this country.

The people that work are pulling the wagon and the freeloaders need to start chipping in or get out.

I work my ass off and the money I pay in taxes (business-personal) is fu*king BULLSH*T.

I am very very close to just stopping, period.

I want to pay some tax, everyone should but the increases every year and the uncontrolled spending are BS. The people of this country need to demand the rates come down or shed some blood.....
