Cash For Clunkers & Health Care

So, how do the two programs come together....well, one is an excellent example of how the government wll screw up the other...

Today, over half of the 435 members of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association withdrew from the Cash For Clunkers program...and hundreds of other dealers around the country and following suit...

Why....because the government....the same government that some people want to run Health Care...can't process reimbursements on time...

The dealers are taking it in the shorts....they have to pay the manufacturers for the cars...people who come in under the program take the car at less than the dealer pays...and the government is suppose to pay them the $4500...
Federal transportation officials "need to start paying these dealers,” association President Mark Schienberg told the Associated Press.

Earlier today, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said he knows "dealers are frustrated. They're going to get their money."
Well, Mr. LaHood.....when are they going to get it is the questions....the dealers are not willing to take any more risk...
In Maryland alone, dealers have put in $36 million in claims under the clunkers program but have been reimbursed for only about 2 percent of the total, said Peter Kitzmiller, president of the 325-member Maryland Automobile Dealers Association.

"It is ludicrous at this point," Kitzmiller said. "We've got deals that are just sitting there waiting to be reviewed. The customer is gone, the car is gone, and you don't have your money."

Yep....these are the people I want making my medical decisions.....they can't even process a simple reimbursement form on time... :coffee:

You do realize colonel that Medicare is the single most efficient payor of medical services that exists today?

14 days after the bill is submited the money is in the bank. Meanwhile private insurance plans leave us hanging for months.

If anything they should have had Medicare run this
