NEW YORK – Glenn Beck returns to Fox News Channel on Monday after a vacation with fewer companies willing to advertise on his show than when he left, part of the fallout from calling President Barack Obama a racist.

A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air on Beck's show, according to the companies and ColorofChange.org, a group that promotes political action among blacks and launched a campaign to get advertisers to abandon him. That's more than a dozen more than were identified a week ago.

I can't remember who wrote the article, but the guy said Beck was good for the really nuts people out there. His line of reasoning was because he gives some legitimacy to the fringe crowd by addressing their deep seeded fears. Keeps them grounded to the real world, and thus less likely to kill us all in a fit of rage.

Beck may have lost a few of his advertisers, but it will hurt his competition and all the last place networks more than it will hurt Beck. The advertisers who have left have simply shifted their dollars to other Fox programs, and sworn off of ALL political advertising.

Good news for Beck, bad news for MSNBC and the other losers. Capitalism at work.

While the advertising boycott has generated substantial media coverage, Fox News said it has not impacted the network's revenues or Beck's audience. "The advertisers referenced have all moved their spots from Beck to other programs on the network so there has been no revenue lost," a spokeswoman said.

I love the little censorship groups that get all riled up and start their little pussy campaigns like this to go at the advertisers to try and get whatever they don't want said on the air pulled. I don't care one way or the other about Beck as I only see him when someone posts a link on here and that is from one extreme to the other. Don't agree with trying to get the talk censored or removed from the airwaves. However, have no problem with "offended" groups lobbying advertisers to pull their support from certain venues. IMO, no different than me choosing to drink a Guiness in a bar I like versus an establishment I don't like...purely capitalism & freedom of choice...
