Huh...Bitch Babs Boxer (who just released her autobiography, seen here)...
and John "Yes, Dear" Kerry-Heinz (seen here in a candid moment during last months diplomatic mission to North Korea...having just finished his signature classic..."I wanna go home...")...
band together to delay passage of AGW bill...
...with trillions at stake...
...I can understand why the Dem crooks want to sit on the bill until they've maximized their shakedown from all interested parties.
Sens. Boxer, Kerry delay climate bill
By Jim Snyder - 08/31/09 03:23 PM ET
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5688 ... ll-delayed
Boxer is the chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, the panel that has primary jurisdiction over the bill.
Kerry has been a longtime proponent of capping carbon dioxide. He has used his gavel as the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to examine how rising global temperatures could destabilize certain regions.
Sen. Reid (D-Nev.) had asked the committees with oversight on climate-related issues to have bills ready by the end of September. The delay announced by Boxer and Kerry could make it more difficult for Reid and other Democratic leaders to work out a compromise bill that can muster the 60 votes needed to proceed in the Senate by the end of the year.
“They are working diligently to craft a well-balanced bill and Senator Reid fully expects the Senate to have ample time to consider this comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation before the end of the year,” Reid spokesman Jim Manley said in a statement Monday.

We've started doing estimates at work of the cost of the shakedown. We provide power to 16 municipal utilities with a total of 25,000 customers. Our power supply resources include hydro, coal, wind, natural gas, and diesel fuel. The renewables (hydro, wind) account for about 30-35% of our total resources. Carbon based resources make up the remaining 65-70%.
For the period of January 1 through July 31 the cost of cap and trade at $10 per allowance would've been an additional $2.5 million for our member utilities. Many estimate that the cost would more likely be $30 per allowance or $7.5 million for 7 months. At $7.5 million that is an average of $300 per customer. If you annualize that you're talking about an average of over $500 per year. That's an average across all customer classes so imagine what portion of that business will bear and pass on to their customers.
Cap and trade will kill any economic recovery and drive more jobs to Mexico, China, India, etc.

...just more evidence that the limousine liberals are either intentionly attempting to destroy America, or are so far removed from reality, they REALLY believe a stick and carrot American economy, with the government holding the crop, is our manifest destiny.
It's gotten out of control. Time to give Capitol Hill a clean shave...quickly, firmly, so they never forget.

It was the glaring thing I noticed right away when I read this earlier. Tman always uses an over the top flair but does at least post some facts to back up his position on things. I like to see both sides of what's being said but without Dback, or Appaholic, or someone to put forth something substantial as far as reasoning it's like watching a couple of "hype men"going on without the Rapper there with them.
Sorry Donks, you have been beaten severely at this point so you better hope TTBF or someone comes in to stop the beating.
I will be sitting here in judgment of you.

Here's some more data for you:
For our members each $10 of allowance cost will increase the cost of carbon based electricity by 1 cent per kwh. So if you use 1000 kwh a month in your house and 70% is carbon based your bill would increase by $7 a month for each $10 in allowance cost. Some in Congress have advocated allowance costs of up to $100 each.
The great unknown is the cost of allowances. Anybody can trade these allowances, not just impacted companies. Big banks like Citibank and Chase trade pollution allowances for SO2, NOx, etc. Hedge funds also play in the allowance market. Environmental groups buy them. All of these players drive the price up. With all the credit issues for banks and hedge funds in the last year they have dumped their allowances because they needed cash and have quit trading. The market for pollution allowances has dropped dramatically in the last year. At the end of last year NOx allowances were $6000 each, I can buy them today for $650. With no limits on the cost of carbon allowances who knows what the impact of the climate bill will really be.

With some urgings from my "Thread Post Adviser" I was tempted to take the Enviro-Cap-and-Trade side of the argument just to stir up as much sh!t as I could... which of course is always a good time
But as tempting as this nugget is...
I just don't have the strength to support something as stupid and bass-akwards as what's being proposed

as you were gentlemen...
(oh and for those who have not figured this out already Grizzaholic is actually PFL in disguise)

Gotta agree with Chizzang & other conks....this cap-n-trade is more like bait-n-switch......nothing more than a(n expensive) bill that politicians can point to as "doing something about climate change"....bunch of crap and the pre-cursor to the second wave of recession (the W curve)....the next "derivatives" that enrich the few at the expense of the many and that no one understands......

I added something to your otherwise good response.
