Please stay out of our state. :geek:

This part really killed me:
Johnson said he feels the RAs are injecting their own opinions in pressuring him to remove the flag, which he calls unprofessional. He said he contacted Fox News and other 24-hour news commentators like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
“I’m certainly a victim of the system,” Johnson said

I had never heard the term "yankee" used to insult somebody until an idiot transfer from Auburn showed up at our fraternity while I was in school. Needless to say, he didn't fit in to well.

Damn Yankee is actually a term of endearment

I can't believe that coming from the state that harbors private militias and compounds you'd have any problem with this. ;)

As they say: "Heritage, not hate".

I don't feel as Grizzall does, it should be fine for him to fly his flag as he wishes in his quarters. I mean it's fine to fly the flags of other countries that we've been to war with right? We're such a country of pussies it's fucking ridiculous.

I always felt loved when Citdog (or you) called me that... It seemed to be better than calling me the alternative words Citdog used to describe Yankee's... which I will not go into here

Right, because azzhole is unique to the South in your many travels, correct Jeff? Never encountered them anywhere else, just the South.

You're living up to your name, but I won't generalize - lots of good Yankees on this board. :thumb:

Anybody who actually spends some time in the South will come to love it - you can't help it - The people the food the cultural differences are all enjoyable... lovable even

In my 45 years of living in America and traveling the entire country - I've come to dislike only the North East (as a place to live) and even it has some redeeming features... It's not so much a dislike of the North East as it is just a recognition that it's a tough place to live...

Actually, the NE is quite nice. Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Upstate New York. And, what sort of world would it be without Manhattan? Not saying it's a place I'd want to call home for an extended period, but I do love to hang there for shorter peiods of time.

Nah, Jeff, I love you man. I'm just saying, I could see where you could get under the skin of someone a little less tolerant than me. You know, you being such an asshole and all. But, I guess it takes one to know one, huh?

Yeah.......I guess so.

I always find it funny how thin skinned Southerners can be.......and how they think that no one in the South is an azzhole.

Thin skinned? Really? I don't see that so much. But the asshole thing, well hell, almost everyone I know is an asshole. Seems to be a fucking pandemic of assholishness going around.

The article is right, the kid should have never put the flag up in the community area. If its not allowed its not allowed.

And from someone who sees a lot of confederate flags in his state, I can see both sides of the issue. For the most part people who hang the flag are proud to be southern and do not have racial connotations with the flag. However, the flag can still be recognized as a symbol of racism and slavery that existed under that flag, so I can see people have a problem with it. But we should be free to express our own views so who cares if its flown.

The American Flag also stands for the exact same thing if that's all we want to see it as. There are many other things that these flags stand for and that should be taken into consideration as well which gets lost in the emotional reactions of some. Not saying you Sly, but those that recognize it as only a symbol or racism and slavery.

As far as UM goes I agree with the common area not being the place. I took it as the window that face common areas outside which people have always hung flags, political bullshit, and so forth in their dorm windows.

Oh I agree. I don't have a problem with the flag. Its not like the stars and stripes has a clean record. But I can also understand where blacks wouldn't like the flag. Much like Jews don't like the Nazi flag, and I'm sure Native Americans don't like our flag.

Exactly, so when do we start taking down the American Flag to make everyone happy?

I was under the impression that that was going to happen when Obama got elected. :?:
