The immortal Katie Couric reported tonight that CNN saw USCG go-fasts sprinting up and down the Potomac and "heard" shots today, so they freaking ASSUMED that a copy-cat terrorist attack was hitting DC, but they FAILED to check it first. And then other news outlets picked it up because CNN is "God".

The whole bloody thing was a previously planned security exercise. In other words, it was PRACTICE! After all that cr@p about "fact checking" Palin, perhaps CNN should take their own medicine.

Loved hearing Brian Williams at NBC take a swipe at CNN for prematurely ejaculating this story - likely upset they weren't there first.

From what the CG spokesman said, they train like this every day and are on call 24/7/365 so they don't take days off but of course they will conduct an internal investigation.

USCG activity and reports of shots fired - I think CNN made a reasonable assumption. When a disaster or accident happens, who exactly is CNN supposed to check with first to verify if it's real or not? God?

CNN should have been notified ahead of time by whoever planned the drill, so that they would know not to run a story on it. Also, conducting the drill on 9/11 is not the best idea IMO.

It was nothing out of the ordinary. The USCG trains every day.

A CNN hack listening to a scanner heard one of the Coasties say, "Bang Bang" on the radio. They reported it as the CG saying that shots had been fired.

Anyone who was alarmed at CG boats going fast on the river does not spend a lot of time here.

Retard reporters with too much time on their hands are the cause of the hoopla.

Routine drills are routinely publicized ahead of time, as even a cub reporter should have known.
